Gold in Trouble?

by bucketboy » Thu Mar 05, 2009 3:46 pm

Is it a fair answer to say there is no right or wrong answer to all this. So many different factors play into all of it and each team gold or not is trying to do the best they can for their players to provide them maximum exposure and give those kids that want to play in college the oportunity to be seen.

The initial post speaks of financial committment and I think it is going to be an issue we all are going to have to deal with this summer and fall no matter what level you are playing at. Parents that normally are at every tournament may have to send their DD's with another family etc just so they can play so I think it is the west/southwest teams that are going to be affected more by the economy than us.

Sorry to send the post off course. I think I need a softball fix. I'll even take a hs game at this point.

All levels of travel ball are going to be hit hard by the economy. I still think you will find good tournaments in the Indy and Chicago area. Probably less parents traveling and more team rooms for the girls. My daughter went to California with her team to play in the fall. That tournament cost less than going for a weekend in Warsaw. My wife and I skipped the trip because it would be too expensive. I missed some great softball, but it's for my kid not me. You can and will economize. Just start dividing everything by 4.

Thanks jag!! I didn't want to start an issue, just think you can get as much of a chance at an education here and not traveling all over the midwest and country! $$ is an issue for everybody, if they admit it or not!! as lumpy said, we could all use some warm evening in the parking lot after a good day of ball!! Maybe even school ball!! felt great outside today!! minus the wind blowing through my scalp!!

I guess we are all softball nuts. Otherwise, we never would have found this site. If you are looking for an active softball board, try the following:

http://members4.boardhost.com/RockersSoftball/

There is some local Chicago area discussion, but also a lot of good topics and fun battles. Enjoy, I wouldn't steer you wrong. It will help to kill time until softball starts up. By the way, no registration and wide open discussion with daily/hourly board deletions.
