I have been so busy I have missed a few things n just found this out. Scott will be missed by many.

Very sad news indeed. My heartfelt condolences to all his family and friends.

"ssarge" was a highly valued member and contributor on here. He shared his deep knowledge about hitting in a unique manner that was engaging and very respectful.

I've met very few people on here in person, however I initiated meeting him about 5 years ago at PGF Nats when he was coaching a young Sorcerer team. He was the same in person as he was on here.

God rest his soul and everyone that knew him.

I'm heartbroken today. Sarge was one of the finest people I had the privilege to meet in my years of being involved in softball. He was a great human being, always looking to help others. I remember that one of my kids was being looked at by a college coach at a showcase in HB. We sent the kid up to bat 5 consecutive times while his pitcher was under orders, from Sarge, to throw fresh meat down the middle. It didn't make his pitcher look good, but he was trying to get our kid a better chance at a scholarship.....but that was Sarge. He lived to help others. I will miss him. My thoughts go out to his family.

Wow...what a terrible loss. I met Scott in person a few times, when he invited me and dd to join him and his daughter to join them for some hitting work at Loyola. He spent a ton of time working with dd, and it was obvious that he had such a servant's heart.

He was a towering presence in this forum; one of the few voices with which few could ever find fault. He is without doubt in a better place. Heartfelt prayers for his family in this difficult time.

Man that just breaks my heart. I learned so much from ssarge here on the bucket and in conversation. When I think of hitting instructors, he's the first one I think of and would help anybody that asked him. We need more like him in this world.

I found this site when my older DD first got serious about softball and was being fed hitting instruction that made no sense to me. "Ssarge" was one of the handful of people posting on this board with a message that correlated with what I thought I saw good hitters doing. Once I figured out who he was, my girls started taking lessons with him, and his quality instruction greatly enhanced both of their softball experiences - he has both of their first HR balls. He was much more than just a coach to us, though. He was one of the finest people I've ever come across.

I hadn't spoken with Scott in awhile, but the devotion to his wife that is described in the memorial is the quality that was the most outstanding in him in recent years.

Our family will miss him greatly. The world is a lesser place without him.

Scott was one of the most thoughtful people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I've called him friend for a very long time though I never met him in person. Along with MarkH and a few others, I shared video of my dd as she grew up. From the age of 10, my dd benefited from having Scott give his ideas on her swing and his encouraging words to help motivate her. It was a pleasure watching his dd grow up and Scott was so thoughtful sharing her and his journey. Along with his hitting advice, on these various websites, he helped so many people understand the recruitment process. We not only lost an ambassador for the game, we lost someone who made us all wiser and better as people.

I never met Ssarge but any time that he provided comment in a thread I would pay close attention. Not only the content of Scott's posts but the respectfulness of the delivery which "coincidentally" seemed to raise the bar on civility for other posters in those same threads. My condolences go out to his family.
