UPDATED! 12u Top Team Ranking – Pre ASA Nationals Poll!

by Luv_SC » Tue Jan 27, 2009 11:08 am

Thanks Chris and of course we stick together I would love for my DD team to win nationals but if we dont I would of course want it to be another California team. The talent is too great to put together one or two teams wouldnt be fair to the girls how would they get the playing time they so deserve?
The so called percieved ill will is all in good fun I have coached, my daughter has played and I have liked many girls that are on several different teams that I see as competion but I still want sucess and good things for all of them. I might not agree with who they play for or might never let my dd play on the team but I still respect them and wish nothing but the best for all the Ca teams except when we play them.

Good luck this season.

Hearing about the Angels last year at Nationals in Alabama is just like hearing about the Comets.... Be proud...but nobody else wants to hear about it over and over( if you won...thats another story)

a new player that will be good down the line.....pep in the dugout ( I was there...the dancing was awesome)...confidence and heart......should be saved for your guestbook and eteamz site

Maybe there should be HeyBucket certification?

I'll tell you what...I will pick up the tab for you and CleanUp.[/size]
By the way....congrats on your Tourny win in San Clemente....57 was great on the mound and you guys were having fun! Too bad the top ranked teams were knocked out before they got to you because you guys were playing great..

Coffee is ready!

Yes we were a mixed team last year. At Nationals 6 -'96 & 5 -'95..The '96 players are the same from 2007 Nationals team..The merger with Frost was awesome because our weaknesses were their strong points and vice ersa so it was a natural fit. Great girls with talent, awesome coaches, and dedicated parents hope to be our keys to success 2009..

It wouldn't or couldn't work for everyone but we have always had a little lady luck on our side, hence 2007.. 8-)

What's even worse, I crack myself up! It's all good, doesn't bother me obviously, you have to be able to laugh at and with yourself, especially when you know you can get carried away sometimes! :D Well, okay at lot of the time..

Here is my updated poll after the TCS Huntington Beach Classic – I will ask the pollsters and coaches to turn their polls in and will come out with a new 12u poll by the end of the week.

Sorry for dropping teams that did not play down in the poll….. I am confident you will make it up when its your turn to play!

12u Poll Jan 2009

1. Firecrackers -

2. CA Rebels – Rebel parents spent all Saturday and Sunday talking about not playing in the finals because it was to late 8pm on a school night with mid-terms for some players. Once this talk started I knew they would not make it out of the Semi’s. I don’t read to much into the lost to AA Palomino 97 except that the lost was with the staff ace. What I did like is the way they continued to battle back, and even in the last inning continued to play hard and mount a late rally. This shows me that they “will not go quietly into the night at State and Nationals” – which is the ultimate mark of a champion.

3. Corona Angels Knighten – A very important win, their place as one of the top teams was on the line.. as they did not make a final or win a tourney in the fall. They play the best defense day in and day out, and the short game will be a weapon come Nationals. However, this team is not yet at the level I expected them to perform at – remember they did not face one top ten team in the tournament so let’s wait until Surf City.

4. San Diego Power Surge – A lot of drama around this team since they cut three players at the end of fall. It seems they traded in some bats for another pitcher and better defensive players… this could be a smart move or it could end up destroying team chemistry! If they added another hard throwing pitcher, it will have zero impact at Nationals!

5. O.C. Batbusters Marquez – Personally my favorite team to watch… a lot like a box of chocolate – you never know what your going to get. Good coaching and talented players, but way to much focus on offensive…..

6. So Cal Jynx –

7. O.C. Wildcats 96 – Showed some heart in battling back against Corona Xpress, bases loaded two outs. Like the Rebels that is a mark of a good team. So I don’t drop them out of the top team list. Also picked up a very good pitcher.

8. OC Batbusters – Snow 97
9. Corona Angels Lockman (mostly 97)

10. Valley Tribe 96/97 – As expected they made the semi-finals, and I was confident that they would beat the Rebels/Batbusters winner (turned into AA/Batbusters winner). Why? When you don’t depend on a pitcher to strike everyone else out, you learn to play defense. Team is coached very well and plays together.

11. Cal Thunder
12. Irving Sting
13. Raiders

14. AA Palomino 97 – I’m impressed with the pitching, the defense and the coaching. This is a good team that is benefiting from being placed in the hardest pool every tournament. The 1997’s have their own style… look forward to seeing team grow.

15. BombSquad 96 – New pitcher!
15. Corona Xpress - Dangerous team that plays much better in elimination then pool play. Just lack depth to be a top 12 team.

17. Team Smith 96 –
17. OC Batburster – Ray
17. No Fear 96
17. Nemesis 96

21. So Cal Crunch
22. Minor Gold 97 - another 1997 coming out to play!

redzone wrote:Mr. Comet -- As I understand it, you were so confident with your 10U team that you merged with the Frost Falcons. Is that true? I'm sure that if the Firecrackers and Corona Angels merged (or any two of the top 6 in Southern California merged), we might be able to muster a few good innings against your powerhouse team.

Depends on when you merge because I don't care how many superstars you have, if there isn't chemistry, there isn't a TEAM!

Also, sometimes too many superstars makes for a long season with parents not satisfied with their roles...
