Poor sportsmanship

Just wanted a couple other opinions. Im sure every one has ran into this before, teams are cheering the cheers turn into ear piercing screams, the other team calling out players numbers or calling them by position during a play trying to distract them, we recently even had a teams parents doing the same as the players. . When do the chants become poor sportsmanship?

When they start yelling my daughters DL and SS#. Thats when ive had enough and bust out the ar-15.

When they start burning a womanican in effigy with your DD's number on the jersey ... it may be time to alert the media ... other than that .... it is an opportunity for the Coaches, and or Parents, to mold your players, or children, into the citizens we can only hope they will become ... that being said ... If a Coach allows that ... they are an A*SH*LE ... and if a Parent lets their kid play on that team ... guess what.....

When the other team lets it get to them. I know it is hard to deal with but unless the umpires do something about it, the girls just need to ignore it. More importantly, the parents do.

I used to tell my DD, "Gee, they must be scared of you guys, they sure are yelling loud." Like you said, use it as an opportunity to learn something.

And yes, those coaches are jerks and the parents are too....

We don't allow our team to do anything but cheer for their own team mates. Usually teams that have all those gay cheers about the other teams are rec teams or teams with no class. No one to blame but the coaches and the parents.

What age group is this happening in?

I think I can remember some name calling at 12U, but after that most girls tend to mature. (The parents, never.)

In 99% of the cases, nothing an umpire can do. What rule are you wanting enforced? Please point it out to me, cuz that would become my firstist favoritist rule ever.

So rarely does the "cheering" actually reach the point of by the rule Unsportsmanlike Conduct, which, by rule, requires immediate ejection. So when the girls do start to cross the line, just a look and it usually gets policed up real quick and I dont have to eject anyone. Its obvious when its crossing the line and IMO mostly self policed to be noisy, aggravating, and irritating but not USC.

Just screaming and acting like horrible noisy little screecher fools is not USC, unfortunately. I would love to just eject the first girl that screeched. *BAM* to the parking lot, now shut up!... But alas, that rule does not exist.

This lamer parent induced stuff is usually low level ball stuff, so luckily I dont see it in summer ball. I do see it early in the year when I'm working the low level stuff .

The last time I saw yelling like that was in 10U (Rec) All Stars. I remember a lot of the San Diego teams were good at it. LOL
