Forgot a biggie:

______ Coach destroyed a 13year old girl's confidence and love of the game.

unfortunately, this happens too many times and the other bystander coaches/parents sit and let it happen. We are not talking 16 or 18's....we are talking about impressionable young athletes who still are working their way to play at the next level.

Let's face it..at some point, we are all guilty of being bystanders by allowing it to happen...too afraid to say something for fear of retribution.

Shame on all of us.

Team plays tight, will continue screaming at them until improvment happens.

um, I think you're missing the point. Of course if the team is playing tight and not performing like you had coached them, then they deserve to be chided.

But, it's not the yelling at the girls for doing things wrong that is the problem...it's the individual personal attacks and the demeaning nature of them that will crack a player's desire. It's the inconsistency. Demeaning one girl for doing something wrong, but not doing the same to another girl for doing the same thing wrong because her dad helps you coach or whatever.

A coach is there to teach the girl's the game of softball. A coach is there to make a player a better player by teaching her the game. Yelling at players to get them motivated to perform has been around forever. But demeaning a player should not be tolerated at an age where girls are already going through so many physical and emotional changes. Coaches who work with girls at this age need to understand this....that they are just 8th graders!

I've witnessed that line being crossed too many times....even by so-called "good" coaches.

I've said my peace. We all know it's been going on forever. It doesn't mean it's right, either. If all of us bystanders call it out when it happens, just maybe then these coaches will start to understand it. But it can't come from just the parents whose DD's are affected, it must be called out from ALL parents/coaches when it happens.

To stop Bullying, the Bystanders must stand up. Let's all vow to be that change.

Shame on all of us.

The OP was for fun and to make light of what frustrates parents/players/ going through the gauntlet that is travelball.
It was not to be about bulling or tearing apart or breaking a young girl.
In hindsight my dd has been demeaned, put down, put out,and pulled apart with this game.
Some times it was the coach, sometimes it was politics, sometimes it was unfair, sometimes it was ability, sometimes it was me.
I don't know how to post pictures but if you saw my dd when she was young, you would see a thin small twig of a girl.
If you saw me, you would see an ass, who pushed sometimes too hard and sometimes had expectations too high.
We found the balance and persevered. She became stronger mentally and learned life isn't fair and you don't always get what you put into it. But sometimes it is recognized and shows.

Ride hard, and enjoy the ride, love the sport, but if you get butthurt,,,,well we have a form for that.

Come on now... Bullying? Regardless if someone agrees or not each family chooses the team and coach. Stand up? I say mind your business and worry about your own DD. To many people worrying about things that aren't their issue.

My daughter plays for a "tough" well known coach. We choose to put her in a place where she is consistantly pushed to be the best she can be. Period! The day we decide or find an example of her being talked down to or demeaned we would make a family decision at that time.

Toughen up people... This damn world is just to damn soft!!
