Rittman Resigns as Coach

STANFORD, Calif. – John Rittman has resigned his position as the head softball coach at Stanford University, athletic director Bernard Muir announced today.

Stanford will begin a national search to fill the position.

While coaching for 18 years at Stanford, Rittman also served as a member of the United States National Team coaching staff from 2001-08 and was part of the United States softball teams at the Olympics in Athens (gold medal) and Beijing (silver).

Who ever it is... hopefully they will have better results recruiting.

Rittman was a joke in recruiting. One of our top select players, Top 5% in terms of speed, lefty with power, starting as a freshman for a major Big 12 team with top grades went to his camp. She flew in after getting our team qualified for gold with a top performance. This jerk told her, you are about 2 inches too short right to her face. He deserves what he got. Stanford is a classy place, but he had no class.

Thats not just a jerk, thats stupid and its the kind of information that people need to hear to help with decisions. Stupid as we all know is not in short supply in the world we are dealing with.

I think they should do everything they can to get Jessica Allister. She was an asst coach when my kid started and I got to know her a little bit. She is fantastic with players, played at Stanford, a terrific person and has shown at Minnesota that she can coach kids up. The PAC12 needs some new young, non-psycho coaches to stop the slide.

Allister would be an exceptional choice and a significant upgrade from Rittman. Both DD and I have always been impressed with her. A good choice.
