Isn't OCBB Young an 02 team?

Yes, they are an '02 team. They are an '02 team who won four in a row at the first PGF qualifier in Socal to qualify for PGF. They are an '02 team who this weekend beat Solano Pride, Force-Rodriguez, Salinas Storm, and Breeze '01. They are an '02 team who draws from all over Socal (I spoke with one parent who lives in El Centro and drives 3-4 hours for practice). Having watched them on Sunday, I would say they are quite impressive. Very well coached and they are as big as most of the '01 teams that were out there this weekend.

They are not like the '02 teams we are used to in Nocal.

Got to say the Force Classic isn't the same as years before.
We all know the brackets were lob sided.

I think it's funny when comments like this are made. Do you really think the Tournament Director has any idea who the teams to beat in your age group are or care for that matter? That would be the only way to plan the Brackets. Should the Tournament Directors check the rankings on Hey Bucket in each area before setting pools? I know everyone thinks it is a conspiracy when top teams end up playing before the semis, or the stronger few teams line up on one side but that is just how they play out. Bottom line is the best team on one side won and the best team on one side was runner up, if your team wasn't in the finals then you simply have more work to do to get there... Do you really think Tournament Directors sit around and try to plan out the Sunday Brackets??? When you play in large events like Fresno Force, TCS etc... where they have 50+ teams in an age group they could care less who you are. They line them up, pull names, add to pools then set the 1 v 2 etc until the bracket is set.

We're the pools pre-planned? Of course! All the top teams were spread out in different pools. But you probably didn't noticed that.

I think I gave my props to the team deserving. Breeze made it to the ship and I congratulated them. The best team won the tournament!

I thought Realtalk was objective in the assessment.

I'm surprised you wouldn't think there is some level of forecasting done by the TD. The better ones should have a general understanding of the better teams through some level of discussions. It is in the best interest of the tourneys to have the best teams playing towards the end. The stronger #1 seeds should hopefully be battling in the quarters as opposed to right out of the gate. Shame on those teams if they stumble on Saturday and end up a #2 seed but if you are a #1 seed that seems a tough scenario. This isn't a blind draw, double elimination event.

...and I did not have a child playing in Gold bracket.

Congrats to the two finalist. It sounds like a great game (6-5 final). Of course, you wouldn't know that from the Force website.

So I had a conversation with another dad this past weekend in Fresno about the same topic of the brackets being lopsided. He had a great point. His thought was, why is everyone complaining? You all are always talking about how friendlies are better so you can play the better teams and avoid the weaker teams. Now one side has mostly strong teams and all the coaches are complaining. Is it about the trophy or playing the best teams possible? I think he had a great point. Besides the only finish that matters is at the big one at the end of the season. By the way congrats to the Breeze 01 team on a great weekend.

I don't think any team has done anything surprising. I think most teams that are considered the better teams are all capable of beating each other on any given day.

I would have to agree Dozer there is a top group that can be a coin toss depending on who shows up in a particular game.
But without a ranking this forum gets boring. So here is my opinion.
