Houston Area HS Softball 2014

Let me say this so I clearify myself. Pearland isn't out of the question by no means stiil alot of GREAT kids and GREAT ball players. Heard they got a move in from Washington and along with others should solidify there pitching staff. So don't count them out by no means. Gonna be in the hunt. No disrepect intended to Pearland. One kid isn't the team, it just helps. So if I came off as if Pearland is not in the running hopefully I clarified myself.

Kinda sad, Coach, that 5a lost a great pitcher in Snow. I am not from Pearland but always loved to see her pitch in the playoffs. Great gain for 2a ball Wish her well and wish her a lot of success.

Why would a senior pitcher move from her 5A school to a 2A school? I thought HS softball is no big deal to the big dogs :?:

Atascocita is going to be really good but they are young and that does make a difference.

The Woodlands is still going to be good from the North. In 4A, Montgomery and Magnolia West are both going to be good.

Looks to be Montgomery's final season in 4A. All indicators point to them moving into the new 6A next year.

All of Texas is apparently changing. However, it is actually just a re-naming of the six-man (football) class as Class 1A. Then everyone else moves up one - existing Class 1A would become Class 2A, Class 2A would become 3A, and so on.

Great to see people beginning to respond to Texas Softball. Games start next week!!! I think it is going to be a great year with a lot of Teams in the mix until the very last day. Good luck. Keep the good comments going on the Bucket and I hope we hold down on the bashing..

Atascocita has a strong Sophmore class and several very good Freshman that can make an impact. Lots of speed and power. Hard throwing soph pitcher and a couple others who could get time. The coach is pretty good and turned the program around quickly last year. They went deep into the playoffs last season and were a few questionable calls away from beating the Woodlands.

Barbers Hill has a team full of seniors. Rupp is back and looked very strong this fall. They have both speed and power, feel like this is their year. Have a strong freshman pitcher as well.

Deer Park will be strong again. How can anyone overlook them they have been to the state tournament the past 2 season. They still have Plocheck and McBride and a strong team both on offensive and deffense. They also probably have the best coach in Houston area.

Pearland imo takes a huge hit by losing their #1 pitcher and best hitter. They have a very strong freshman class but heard most will be on JV eventhough imo they could be out the returners if given the opportunity. Coaches are going to have to score more runs to win, instead of playing for one run and relying on the arm of the pitcher. Coaching is the main downfall for this team with a continuous supply of talent.

East Bernard will blow out everyone if they have a catcher that can catch Show. 2a is a different level of ball...

The Woodlands will be ok through district but dont feel like they will go that far in the playoffs. Lots of speed but no power. Pitching is good not great. Good coach keeps them competitive.

HS ball is great! Combine crummy coaches with 3/4 of a team that doesn't play travel ball, mix in school rivalry and parent ego, it's a great show every year! I greatly prefer this annual spectacle to the 18u gold drudgery.

It is an awesome mix, isn't it?

DD played 5A, as advertised
then 3A, freakin' awful, rec ball all stars at best
now 4A, a mix between as advertised and freakin' awful

2A must be somewhere around rec ball
Sometimes too much to drink is barely enough.
