Other teams are calling about my daughter!!

Well to all that have replied to most post, i thank you! Really appreciate hearing everyones thoughts. Some even made me really smile and laugh. .

Lets face it, we all love softball!! And trust me by 'NO MEANS' am i trying t wear my daughter out at all!!
And to answer some questions, yes we are in SO Cal, and REC BALL is pretty darn lame out in my area. Ive tryed to ask my daughter to play, she tells me NO! Other girls do not like throwing with her, cause she has a grenande for an arm! She's also a very determined catcher, and hates to catch for lazy pitchers, who just dont give it there all like she does. (But again this is my daughter, not me!)

It gets me mad, when I hear people say theres no breaks, we have Knots Passes and Universal, just for our down time! We have sleepovers with other sb players all the time. Lets face it...

There are just some girls that want it more then others, and are a lot more talented! Oh and for the record we played in a friendly this past weekend with the FC. Once it was all said and done I gave my daughter the choice of who SHE would like to play for... I do nothing but support my daughter 100%. I am aware there are some girls who make it, and others who do not. But thats where you learn to make it fun!! And GOD has blessed me, with a very talented and determined daughter!!
With that being said...

The organization u r in is important but what is most important is the coaching. Listen carefully and watch carefully before making a decision. Don't go where they offer "free rides" unless is where you think is the best "team situation" for your girl to play with. Think about growth ...is not all about softball.

Your kid is 10. When you get calls from people who want her it feels good. That's natural. Unfortunately, what I have seen countless times at 10U all the way through 18U is that parents take feeling good to another level which is inflated views of their kid's relative ability and expectations for the future. And I can't tell you how many disappointed parents I've seen. It really sucks to see parents of a kid who hardly sees the field in games. Some just stop showing up to the games. My guess is the level of disappointment is proportional to how heavily they are emotionally invested in not just their kid's performance but in how they think others perceive her ability. How about this: Enjoy the compliments when they come but don't make more of them than they are.

Best of luck to her. I hope she has years and years of fun playing ball in the future.

A lot can happen over the next few years. Enjoy the games, enjoy the compliments. Don't get ahead of yourself, you have a long ride ahead. Enjoy the ride, it can be great if you let it be and can actually get better

For mine, 10u 1 - her. The 12u team that we started , 8 played (including her and her sister) - one more was offered but turned down the scholarship, 6 are playing still, though graduation will take out 3 end of this next 12 months, including her sister. Of the 8, 4 are D1, 3 are D2 and 1 is D3. The D3 kid was my 11th player for ever, she started later than the others, struggled a lot, but never ever gave up. She came early, stayed late. She was such a great kid, though most of the time , I couldn't start her, and encouraged her to join another team where she would get more playing time. She stayed with us, and did get to start her last year - and put a ball over the fence at A&M Corpus, freaking awesome. She will succeed no matter what she tries, "quit" isn't in her.
I am quite sure no one from a strong team called her - but she is still there , playing her senior year of college softball.

My DD has been playing travel since 9. Burnout and injured, nah, every kid is different but we did play for the same coach for 5 years and to it keep it interesting it was time for a change this year. It was time to play for a Pete Carroll type and make it really fun!

As far as her 10U team, 11 girls with 6 verbals so far. I think 10 of the 11 will play college ball when it's all said and done.
