You Might Be A Statist If...

You think that government can morally make decisions about the appropriate use of the private property of others.

You hate greedy corporations, but think an organization such as a government – itself a greedy monopoly – will protect you from greedy corporations.

You think it is possible for a government to change the laws of supply and demand or determine an appropriate response to scarcity.

You think the moral nature of theft, murder, slavery, assault, and kidnapping change dependent upon the size of the group or which group it is that authorizes these actions.

You are scared of the idea of consenting adults engaging in free trade especially if they are not taxed or regulated.

You think it can be morally justified to withhold trade with the people of a country – called an embargo or imposing sanctions – in order to blackmail the ostensible ruler of that country to do your bidding, but do not understand that such an action is morally equivalent to holding an innocent person hostage in order to elicit a certain action from someone who knows them.

You assert guns cause crime, foods cause obesity, schools cause education, or states create wealth.

You are not aware that most regulations are in place to protect existing companies from competition.

You claim separation of church and state, then vote a tax on others to enforce your beliefs and values.

You think that charity only happens when the government gives money to poor people.

You think that rules written by members of the State can be used to control the State.

You think it's okay to give up some rights for security.

You believe that health care, education, housing and food are rights.

You think the land mass – and the people inhabiting it – on one side of an imaginary line in the sand called a border, are objectively better than the land mass – and the people inhabiting it – on the other side of that imaginary line in the sand.

You get squeamish about shooting someone yourself, but have no compunction with having a nameless, faceless representative of the State shoot someone on your behalf. (The further away this person lives, particularly if it’s someplace you cannot find on a map without help, the better.)

You think it is morally justified to install an army base in the vicinity of a so-called foreign people, but would cry foul at the top of your lungs if the roles were reversed.

You think some guy in a special uniform is objectively different from you in terms of morality and rights.

You think your neighbor, or some guy on the other side of town, should be restricted from owning a firearm, since he might be psychopath, while simultaneously assuming that some other guy, who also might be a psychopath, can be armed because a third guy or group of people – none of whom you have ever met – authorizes it.

You think the moral nature of theft, murder, slavery, assault, and kidnapping change dependent upon the size of the group that authorizes these actions.

You confuse the proper role of society (provide needs) and government (enforce rights).

You loan your money (at 0%) to the government all year and happily anticipate a tax refund.

You assert guns cause crime, foods cause obesity, schools cause education, or states create wealth.

You expect others to compromise their principles, so that we can all just get along.

You defer or submit to the authority of others, simple because of their titles or riches.

You equate those desiring less government with those longing for the past, isolation, or less technology.

You affirm that rights come from government or that groups have more rights than individuals.

You are unprepared to defend or provide for yourself; you expect government to solve your problems.

You feel more secure after standing in line for hours followed by groping and harassment by strangers.

You want a government subsidy for arts, sports, farmers, corporations, foreign governments, etc.

You wouldn't personally, but believe the government should, punish others for growing certain plants.

You believe government has claim to our lives, liberties, and property - for the "common welfare."

You have ever said, "it's for the children," "there ought to be a law," or "I work for the government."

You're aghast by 10 seconds of broadcast indecency, but slight pictures of war-dead children.

You place fascism and communism (rather than anarchy and tyranny) on opposite sides of the scale.

Gee,, Spaz I've never seen someone sound pissed that they passed a test.
I was only pissed at the length, not the subject.
Do we win a new thought, or get to keep our old way of thinking. :geek:

To be governed is to be watched over, inspected, spied on, directed, legislated at, regulated, docketed, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, assessed, weighed, censored, ordered about, by men who have neither the right, nor the knowledge, nor the virtue. ~Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

...also
Whats the consensus on these...and Im not a tin hat nut job going to be on an upcoming episode of Doomsday Preppers...

FEMA has purchased millions of body bags.
The Department of Homeland Security bought 1.6 +/- billion rounds of ammunition.

MRAPS...Armed IRS teams...DHS and FEMA with APC's...
http://www.whiteoutpress.com/articles/q42012/homeland-security-graduates-first-corps-of-homeland-youth/

And now how about 14 million doses of potassium iodide....in case you didn't know is used for radiation sickness
Of course there is no dialogue as to why such things are needed here in America

They reduce benefits and pay for military folks...and are raising a FEMA Army?

These reported "purchases" are great examples of the misinformation that is spread on the web. DHS did not purchase 1.6 billion rounds - they awarded contracts with a base year and 4 OPTION years that totaled that amount. There are separate contracts for each year with a low minimum quantity per contract (e.g. 1,000 rounds) and a high maximum quantity to cover the most they would possibly want in a given year. DHS reported they only intend to purchase 750 million rounds. Tom Coburn (OK) questioned the purchases and this article seems to cover it well - http://freedomoutpost.com/2013/03/runni ... purchases/.

I suspect the reported FEMA "purchases" are erroneous too with contracts being mistaken for purchases. As you can imagine, the government bureaucracy for making any purchase is lengthy, so FEMA has to have their sources lined up in advance. When a disaster happens, they can't be scurrying around figuring out where to get what they need. These contracts have expiration dates, so they need to be replaced periodically.

The 14 million doses of radiation medicine seems like a prudent idea given the proliferation of radioactive material and terrorist threats. A "dirty" bomb (i.e. conventional explosive that spreads radioactive material) in an urban area could be catastrophic.

A class of 231 is the start of an army? lmfao I'm sorry, I need to see a lot more evidence of them raising an army.

With so much low-hanging fruit available, I was very disappointed they chose cutting military benefits for the budget deal. It targets the under-65 retirees that are most likely to have served in the wars of the past 12 years. smh
