Calling people paranoid and sad really does nothing to contribute to this discussion. I wish you would refrain from the name calling and just discuss the issues. I have posted many articles from mainstream journals as well as independent blogs that are discussing the ideas in this post. People are writing about this issue because it concerns them and their futures. Are they all paranoid and sad? or maybe they are simply concerned citizens unhappy with the direction that they see our country heading.

Compulsory inadequate compensation is still theft. The Feds paid $20.67/oz and then valued it at $35/oz.

Wiemar Germany- really???? For one- our debt is actually lowe(per GDP) than other industrialized countries and our debt is at a low interest and ironically largely owed to ourselves. I agree that the current debt level is too high, but reject the notion that debt is necessarily bad. Long term things should be paid with long term money(debt) ie house-mortgage ...

As you know, a key sound financial principle is to not incur debt that ever exceeds the current value for which it was incurred. How much of the US debt can be justified by the current value of what was purchased with said money?

I too am concerned about this country and its furture. I am also way too familar with the overt fears and conspiracies that seem to rear their heads during rough times. I have either experienced or studied too many of them. I grew up during the '70s and all of that hyper-inflation- as well as the international humiliation of the Carter years--(along with the constant threat of nuclear war).
I really think those times were far worse what is going on now

We spend too much time now looking at our differences, looking for scapegoats and someone to blame- instead of putting our heads together and coming up with solutions.

BW you do bring up many valid points- but the Hyperbole and "Hysteria" dilutes and confuses your message. Everything is not a conspiracy-sometimes the simple answer is the answer

Most of the people that are offended by it just skip my posts, but you will never hear me degrade your point of view by calling you a conspiracy theorist.
Sometimes the answer is just the answer but many times it is not.
Coming together for solutions does not happen unless someone brings up these uncomfortable topics to begin with.

Pdad- The $35 price came after the EO had already been in place which allowed the Feds to make a (paper) profit on the gold- the price paid for it was the mkt at the time.

The answer to your other question is mixed- some more some less. Also, as I am sure you are aware- the debt is liquid- being paid down and up(usually more dependent on the economy than spending)

As I mentioned- I believe the debt level is too high, but that the concept of debt is not itself a bad thing. It depends how it is used and how it is managed.

Frankly- Obama wasted a key time to enact some long term projects which could have been paid for by low interest debt while also utilizing the time to streamline operating expenses. Long term investments tend to lead to future revenue-something the president does not seemto understand

First of all OTB I realized I forgot about the Constitutional stomping by the NSA spying after I posted my earlier semi-rant. U are correct!

My biggest problem is the American people are spoon fed BS stories from the white house by a media that fell in love with Obama's great oratory skills & they do not realize all the factual happenings that go unreported - be if problems with our country's finances, wasted tax dollars, Executive order fiats etc.

Congress votes themselves raises & passes Obamacare but they don't have to use it...BS. Who does that in a Democratic Society? I wish we could replace them all but the Country is too divided.

IMHO we need to put our unemployed to work, take care of the elderly, give our Veterans their due & take care of their needs post service, Help the homeless. If only we could find a way for a new millennium Monroe Doctrine to insure the benefits of our children & our children's children.

OK BW are we ready to move on to the Drones inhabiting our nations skies yet?
