I recall a golf tournament... Tiger Woods on the tee... you can hear cameras click click clicking... Tiger stops his back swing, turns and stares daggers into the gallery, then asks if something can be done about all this racket!

But watching Wimbledon, some of the players have crazy groupie-type fans that get pretty boisterous between points, and it seems the players feed off that energy.

Hell, if parents can chant to 'swing the momentum', why shouldn't fans paying top $ be able to do the same thing at golf and tennis tourneys??

When the Girls are playing in the games, they should be focused enough to block out any cheering or jeering. As long as parents are not putting down the other team. Stop crying and let the parents feel like they are part of the game. Stop giving our kids excuses to why they cannot get something done. This is FASTPITCH SOFTBALL, not golf or tennis. No quiet please signs.

My opinion:

1. There are reasons why this behavior is unusual and noteworthy. The parents of this team don't love their kids any more than the parents on other teams. They don't want their team to win any more than other team's parents. The fact is, contrary to the rationalizations, none of the reasons for behaving like that are positive. Words like classless, pathetic, embarrassing, trailer, etc. spring to mind. Do some of these folks go to animal noise training to prepare for the season?

2. Non-coach parents are not part of the game. Period. They support the team. They have no business impacting the game beyond getting their kid there on time and cheering when someone on their team does something good. I'm wrong? Then where does it end? I can think of many ways I could impact the game, things that EVERYONE would frown upon. But why? I just want to feel like I'm part of the game, so anything goes. Right?

3. The fact that adults playing college ball is used to justify behavior towards 11 and 12 year olds speaks volumes.

Really? Or was that a joke? Parents ARE NOT part of the game. As a matter of fact, 90% of all the kids parents Ive ever coached have all said the same thing to me before practice: "So how longs practice gonna be?". Its usually shouted from a rolled down window. Parents typicaly want very little involvment in the "working" part of the team, so what makes them part of the game?

You need new parents. I take my DD to every practice and sit through it. I might doubt the coach, but never in front of the kids and try not to voice it. Once my DD is there, she is the coach's problem, not mine. I have enough problems at home with her.

HAHA I knew my post would spawn a slew of, "Not me!" responses! The funny thing is that the parents of the girls on my team would make the same statement you just made! But hey, it could be worse, I could have twenty six parents watching every practice, so I'll take it this way. But I stand by the "Parents are NOT part of the game" intention of this post.
