says who?

The Guardian was a logical choice as this also involved the British government.

There were two US Congressman who wanted to expose this as well, but were not willing to face jail time. He made a choice to do something he knew would forever impact his life.

As for why not talk to someone here, isnt that obvious?

The political correctness of all this is such crap. The question should be "ARE YOU A MUSLIM ?" And that's it. Then they can decide how far to investigate them.

Obvious that perhaps espionage or some payoff.

There were plenty of legal avenues he could of pursued.

The question to my father made sense- it was 1962

The question made sense about my mother- remember there was the Navy guy wh sold secrets to the Israelis

A lot of what a clearance check looks for is past criminal activity, bad credit, unexplained wealth- loose ended foreign connection or relations

I think the big question raised is how did this lose Snowden ever get clearance in the first place

You still believe the system would have worked for him?

Espionage in this case is not obvious. As for having plenty of legal avenues, I believe that is a very naive perspective.

According to the Guardian, Snowden is a 29-year-old high school dropout who trained for the Army Special Forces before an injury forced him to leave the military. His IT credentials are apparently limited to a few “computer” classes he took at a community college in order to get his high school equivalency degree—courses that he did not complete. His first job at the NSA was as a security guard. Then, amazingly, he moved up the ranks of the United States’ national security infrastructure: The CIA gave him a job in IT security. He was given diplomatic cover in Geneva. He was hired by Booz Allen Hamilton, the government contractor, which paid him $200,000 a year to work on the NSA’s computer systems.

Regardless of your political leanings, how does this happen? Our government has become so incompetent.

Change a few words here and there, and this is a description of BO getting in to the white house.

I think if he would have brought these concerns to his superiors, he would have been silenced, permanently. No US newspaper would have reported on this because fear of the DOJ arresting their reporters.

Silenced permantly- you read too many spy novels

Inspector Generals Office

Go See Bernie Sanders from Vermont

e-mail Black Widow

etc, etc.....

There are plenty of media outlets here that would love such a story. But the Chinese and Russians- sorry, sound treasonous to me
