So too were the Founding Fathers considered traitors.

Every elected official also took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States, which includes the 4th Amendment. Yet we have seen increased assaults on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Amendments - 30% of the Bill of Rights.

I can assure you that he is not the only one with ties to the NSA who believe the Constitution has been blatantly circumvented since Bush et al implemented the Patriot Act. This will not end here. Compared to this, Watergate and the subsequent cover up is the equivalent of jaywalking.

This guy was not a top level spy. He was a 29 year old employee of a defense contractor with access to every detail of your life, Jon, so one can only imagine the full extent of what has occurred.

We are a spoiled and cavalier citizenry. Liberty is not free, nor should it be taken for granted.

Pretty sure I do not puyt Edward Snowden at the level of George Wasgington.

Yes- he was a low level Defense contractor, but he did not have access to all of my details- he just knew of the possiblityof what was available. He also had no right to divulge the information to a foreign newspaper. I am also concerned that he has moved to a foreign country

As to your other assaults ofn the bill of rights- all have been met with proper checks and balance that are there to prevent. Even this program has involved the checks and balances of all three branches of governmnet

Should we be freaking out, building bunkers etc... no. Should we be concerned, should push our elected officials to keep an close look on this- absolutely! Unfortunatly the defense of this country requires classifiled and cladestine operations. As long is there is proper oversite and review- I feel comfortable my rights are not being infringed.

What I am not confident in is the ability of the federal goverment to truly breakdown the info to "spy" on me-remember this is the same government that can't get the Department of Defense Health system computers to talk to the Veteran Administrations computers

Time for fact checks, JR.

Both Snowden and his attorney assert that he did have full access to your data if he wanted it. $100 to the charity of your choice says this will be borne out as accurate in the future.

With regard to the checks and balances. that has also been thwarted. Both Bush and Obama refused to cooperate with the judicial branch on this, saying that no laws were broken and to prove it would be to compromise national security.

Sooooo....Obama is collecting private information on every American, but says it's wrong to make someone show an ID to vote.

I guess McCartnyism does not ring a bell? Do not be fooled by the veneer of the '50s.

I am not that old, but we are surrounded by communist today in politics and Hollywood and no one really cares. Are you saying we are living in better times?
