I saw a HR a few years ago that he second basemen dove for and missed- picked up speed in the outfield and kept on rolling!!!! In a league of 20 HS teams only 5 had fences

I remember DD1's first HR - she was in 7th grade and it was a grand slam against one of our local competitors. I don't remember DD2's first HR, but I do remember the first home run hit off her - it was at the so called 10u ASA B championship. A girl who looked the size DD2 is today, hit the ball so hard - it burned up on re-entry. The girl was from Bonita Valley, California. I was sitting on my bucket grinning at her - she turned and looked at me and grinned back. Was the first, sure wasn't the last. We laughed about it because the head coach said "Don't throw no change-ups to that team - K can just blow it by them." I tried to explain the concept about keeping big hitters off balance - but like so many others, he knew better. I did offer to go get the ball when it finally came down from the stratosphere and give it to him. I even suggested the orifice.

LOL!

I remember a similar experience with my own kiddo. We were at a 12U tournanament where Nemesis hosts in Downey (the So Cals on the board would know the place), dd hit a grounder that bounced over the first base bag and rolled to the infield of a game going on on the other side of the park. It was hit decently hard but it wasn't like it was a SHOT (That must have been one fast track in the outfield).

Hence dd's first ever grand slam came to be, in most unglamorous fashion.

I remember it like yesterday. Happened at a tournament her senior year. Coach refused to let her bat for the three years prior and at her first at bat she smoked it over the center field fence. The look on the coach's face was priceless.:o When my DD walked by her going into the dugout she looked at her and said "See what you've been missing".  She went on to hit 6 more that year. God that brings back memories.
