When you ream out an umpire - and you find out an hour later.... you were wrong. Wasn't a judgement call, the blue is always wrong on those ;) , I thought it was a blown judgement call but there was a rule that covered it and I found out too late to apologize. I always feel like when you have time to apologize and you do - it almost covers up the embarrassment - but when you find out too late...

I wouldn't worry to much, Donnie. I'll bet over the long haul, the blues probably still owe you one or two.

Not too sure about that, FP, someone asked me how many times I had been thrown out of a game in my coaching years. I said, I have coached just over 700 games and only been thrown out 1 time. I didn't mention that I had been warned just over 500 times though. I learned early where the line was and tried to get real close but avoid crossing over it.

I think ALL coaches have been there ... I sure have ... I think that becoming an Umpire made me a better Coach and that being a Coach made me a better Umpire ...

Several years back I lost it with an Umpire and made a huge scene on the field. The following Monday the first client walking in my office was THAT umpire! He was kind enough to leave the argument on the field. I learned a valuable lesson that day :D

Learned going forward that being nice to Umps was far more productive

I'd just as soon a coach not apologize for something they'll more than likely do again.

We are all human, most umpires are as well. :o I got booted once in Gold ball. Runner on first, 2 out, and I'm coaching 1st. Ground ball to ss throw to first was close. UMP was in B position so didn't see the first baseman pull her foot. I was upset but never said a word but looked at the ump like she was freaking crazy. Yep you got it, I got booted for giving her a dirty look. I was actually kinda proud as I figured that I had one badass look.
Over reacting is human. We have all done it.

Careful how you look at blue!

To be honest, I don't care what the umpire feels, but apologizing makes me feel better, and me, I do care about :D .

Is that why you never apologize when you blow a call? :P

IDK. I'll let you know just as soon as I blow one that first one. :P
