PA System?

I am trying to help our high school re-vamp a PA System. I have 4 new speakers that we can use. Looking for suggestions on an amplifier that can run the four speakers and will have inputs for an IPOD or CD player for walk up music and a microphone. Obviously budget is an issue since we are in the great state of California.
Anyone been through this before??

Also the All American Scoreboard they have is not working properly. I have some electrical knowledge and have tested the control panel it seems that the wiring is ok from the panel since the continuity test was good to the end of the cable.

Symptom is that the board lights up only the run box with a Zero in home and visitors box but nothing else works and you cant change the runs from zero? The control panel does seem to work as I get an audible signal from it when pushing any of the buttons.

Not sure what brand equipment we use, I'll check tomorrow... but we use a simple RCA jack to a normal male speaker jack...just like you plug in ear phones

Behringer or peavey both make inexpensive powered "mixers" that could serve your purposes very well. Of course all of this is dependent on budget. The Behringer product will be the lesser of the 2 but will be lower quality as well. I have never used any of their equipment but it is intended for a budget minded low level end user.

There are also products with the cd player built in act...If you have a guitar center in your area, or a local mom and pop music store they should be able to help...also may want to check the pawn shops..

These are just install manuals, but at least you can start with those to make sure they are installed correctly.

this has the controller wiring diagrams for this board.

Inside the scoreboard there are several controller boards there should be LED's on those boards which have some indication of status. In the service manual there is a troubleshooting section that talks about looking at these LED's for indication of problem parts.

One of the more common recommendations is to take the controller board out to the score board and plug it directly in, they assume you have a cable for this.

The site is a bit disorganized but has a lot of stuff on it, you just have to poke around. This page seems to be a good place to find stuff.

If there is not a specific service manual for your board, you can likely find the controller wiring diagrams from one of the boards.
