Sounds about right, the # 8 4A school beating the #1 5A school. Oh, that's right, it was only a scrimmage.

8-)

Enjoyed this game as much as you can from a scrimmage with neither team throwing their ace and batting ALL the kids that were there and not at SAT's. The 2 run blast was the deciding factor. They all hit the ball well off that pitcher (Foster), meaning no easy outs all balls were barreled off of her. I was wrong earlier in a post; Deer Park has 2 junior pitchers’ a sophomore and a freshman they are running out to pitch thus far. If the other junior could come up with another pitch she would be Salty because she can flat out bring it. I would say a good pitch caller could keep her in game but we are talking HS coaches calling pitches so that is out of the question. No disrespect just speaking the truth. The Freshman in my book is heads on favorite for #2 pitching spot but just my opinion and I sure don't make the decisions. Freshman is getting her feet underneath herself and will do fine once the new wears off. Just hope the coach doesn't run off anymore talent like she has done in the past. Two player's that quit last year are both playing softball in college and the third that was REALLY close to quiting last year is pitching at A&M now.

Shouldn't classify all with that statement but Deer Park lacks in that regard.

Foster's backup held Deer Park to 1 run? Interesting.
But what about Pearland, what is happening there? How are their scrimmages going?

Junior threw 4 innings giving up one run and Freshman came in and threw 3 innings giving up 0. Deer Park managed to score 3 in the process.

LaPorte vs Humble Atosicita:
Humble: Senior threw 4 innings giving up 0 and Freshman came in and threw 2 innings giving up 0. The Junior catcher and Alabama recruit for Humble hit 2 run homer off of Junior A&M recruit from La Porte. Humble won 5-0. Atosicita is my sleeper pick this year. They have ALOT of talent on that roster and a VERY good coach if you ask me.

Heard from a little birdie that Freshman from Pearland "Cadillac" went deep last night opposite field. Pearland is going to give everyone all they can handle with the lineup the coach has been running out on the field so far. Don't know any other specifics. Plan on watching them play next.

Hey Coach, Sounds like Pearland may be developing into what everyone has been thinking (the team to beat in 5A this year) I have felt all along with their pitcher, the addition of the transfer catcher, and their battery of hitters they will be tough to beat. If the hitting is there with the pitcher they have the sky may be the limit for them.

Coach, you think Deer Park is developing a 1-2 punch with their Junior (is this their #1) and their Freshman Pitchers? You had said in an earlier quote you felt the Freshman could be the #2 pitcher. Or is it too early to tell if the Freshman can handle the pressure and be consistant from game to game. No one knows much about her.

Who do you feel can honestly compete with Pearland this year, with all the weapons they appear to have??? I know Deer Park is rated high, just because they are reigning State champs, but alot feel they may not do much this year because of the loss of their Pitcher to graduation.

I heard Foster's backup (lefty) had her arm in a sling. I'm thinking you got their #1 pitcher (righty) That kid is good. Evidence-- holding DP to one run... those DP girls know how to put runs on the board.

LCM is the team to beat in 4A, with Foster a close 2nd (with 9-10 SRs on the squad).

Good luck to all!

They are going to be one of the top teams from the Houston area no doubt (Pearland). What I was saying is you need two pitchers in case one has bad day and you need the other. Your ace doesn't need to throw every game and she definitely doesn't need to throw a double header in the playoffs. The hitter's in the playoffs are your better hitter's and if you see ANY pitcher that many times the odds are shifting to the hitter. The freshman will be fine she is a freshman. NO freshman is expected to come into a high school program and hold the torch; that's the responsibility of your upper classmen it's their turn and if you don't have that you’re not going far in the playoffs. She will get her turn because she is a BIG left handed kid that throws the ball WELL; commands her off speed with PLENTY of getty up on her hard stuff. The junior pitcher pitched more innings than the senior last year and beat Alvin in 1 game playoff and beat an picked up a save against Pearland last year in the playoffs. She will do just fine but every program needs 2 pitchers unless you plan on playing one game playoffs. Just my opinion take it for what it is an OPINION. Deer Park is ranked high because they lost 1 starter from last year’s team. I will tell you this much I will be HAPPY if either of these teams win State or go deep because I know parents on both sides that I call friends. Some may not like me but some do that just comes with being a coach. The difference between being a coach and a Dad is a better seat on the bucket. The majority of the girls in the top high school programs have worked there butts off to become REALLY good ball player’s and hats off to them and there parents for putting in the time to develop their skills to where they are at. It takes things going right for your team to make it to state along with winning it.

There you have it I didn't know which was the Ace; probably should have done my homework before I spouted off the Lefty was the Ace and yes she did throw well. Don't know much about LCM but look forward to seeing them play. They sound solid with that many upperclassmen.
