Sounds about right, the # 8 4A school beating the #1 5A school. Oh, that's right, it was only a scrimmage.

I realize some of you love to get things going on the bucket. But really, all of you have watched practise games. Coaches working on Bunting, moving runners around on the bases, hit and runs, steal, double steals, 5 out per innings. Pitchers working on particular pitches. I hate practise games. I go but I hate to watch them. To me they are a necessary evil for spectators.

I wish you could gauge how a team is by practise games but you can't. Most of the time after a practise game you wonder if your team has a chance of winning a game at all during the year.
The first real team test will be the first tournment. That gives you some idea of what the team will actually look like.

And what tournament would that be? I am not aware of high school playing a bracket tournament as they all seem to be round robins. Is that true? I am thinking the first real test will be after about halfway thru the district schedule, if even then. The real FIRST test will be that first round of playoffs IMHO. Is that true?

Yes it probably is several teams playing each other over a 3 day period like travel ball is during the fall, I just use the verbage they use on the team schedules.

I didn't say that it would tell you whether they were going to win state or not, just that you could start telling what kind (competitive or not) team they might be.
I do agree with 1 thing. As you said the season really starts with the playoffs. That is where you seperate the "maybe's" from the "real deal" teams.

Pretty stout right side of the brackets!!! Should be fun to watch along with some pretty good softball being played. The bottom right hand side is a brutal bracket with some REALLY good teams thru out the bracket. Who ever comes out of that bracket should be battle tested for the last 2 games of the tournament. As we ALL know ANYONE can beat ANYONE on any given day so good luck to all and hope all stays heatlhy. :D

I heard she plays for Impact Gold. Is that true?
I also heard that Pearlands pitcher hasn't been throwing the ball. Is that true?
I also, also heard that the transfer is not getting a shot at a starting job behind the plate. Is that true?

I had not heard that the Pearland pitcher was not throwing. I hope it is not serious. She is to good an athlete to be sidelined. Does anyone know what the problem is??

It is hard to believe the catcher is not getting a shot. She Plays for Impact Gold and is very solid. Don't know where the coach's head is on this one.

Maybe the other kids parents donated a scoreboard or something. JK!! Don't know specifics but heard from a reliable source said those words spoken came straight from the horses mouth about move in not starting. Maybe they will move again next year, Deer Park has open enrollment or maybe Dawson it should be right down the street. Who knows maybe they have her slated in another position because we ALL know she will be in the lineup, right in the middle.

Enjoyed this game as much as you can from a scrimmage with neither team throwing their ace and batting ALL the kids that were there and not at SAT's. The 2 run blast was the deciding factor. They all hit the ball well off that pitcher (Foster), meaning no easy outs all balls were barreled off of her. I was wrong earlier in a post; Deer Park has 2 junior pitchers’ a sophomore and a freshman they are running out to pitch thus far. If the other junior could come up with another pitch she would be Salty because she can flat out bring it. I would say a good pitch caller could keep her in game but we are talking HS coaches calling pitches so that is out of the question. No disrespect just speaking the truth. The Freshman in my book is heads on favorite for #2 pitching spot but just my opinion and I sure don't make the decisions. Freshman is getting her feet underneath herself and will do fine once the new wears off. Just hope the coach doesn't run off anymore talent like she has done in the past. Two player's that quit last year are both playing softball in college and the third that was REALLY close to quiting last year is pitching at A&M now.
