Bombers Shootout Tournament

by bombercoach » Mon Jan 07, 2013 4:32 pm

I can clear this up for you pretty quickly.....I am not part of any committee and was not told by anyone to tell the Firecrackers not to attend the Exposure Weekend. I made that decision on my own and did so without all of the information about what was going on.....when all of the silliness started during the fall we had a short window to figure out what to do prior to our event. Our only goal when we run that tournament is to give kids as good of an opportunity as possible for college exposure. There was a lot of things going on between teams etc during that time and we absolutely had no problems with any of the teams involved! The decision I made at the time was in the best interest of the event based on the information I had at the time! I acknowledge that by making that decision it took an opportunity for exposure away from those players and that was not right! After the tournament and once I had a chance to get all of the information , I realized I made a mistake and needed to apologize for that mistake. I spoke with Connie personally and let her know that I was wrong and that I had made a mistake! Her teams are welcome to participate in any event that we host and we would be honored to have them. I just wanted to clear up any misunderstandings that might be out there.....I made a mistake and I feel confident that as individuals that run tournaments that we should do our very best to provide opportunities for players and nothing should really every get in the way of that!

Hope everyone has a great 2013 Season!!!

We I'll be damned! A coach that admits he made a mistake and owns up to it! Thanks for clearing things up.

Scott and I have worked out all the issues that seemed to arise over the fall. I appreciate him for reaching out and look forward to many years of a high level of competition.

You should schedule this in the fall and make it a true showcase. This way 16s can play in it. Also, don't agree with PGF on making this a qualifier. Many 14 teams have freshman on their team and can't play in this. Both this and PGF are premier tourneys just wish they can tweak it a bit.

I predict the Cali teams go 1 and 2 in the tournament.

Here is the deal. If you look at the PGF qualifiers, AZ has 3 slots to give. Tournament time comes around we get greater than 20 cali teams and all of the AZ teams here to try and qualify for the 3 slots. The numbers suck.... Most AZ teams have to travel to other states to qualify. We did that last year. We went to texas which had four slots last year. Quess who took the slots, the only 2 AZ teams and 2 Cali teams that went to the tournment. We beat out teams from Kansas, Colorado, Texas and Washington. Another Az team traveled to Minnesota to qualify, which they did. Most AZ teams went to Colorado to qualify which they did. Why do Cali/Az do that? Because it is much easier to qualify in states other than their own. The competition is just to hard within their boundaries......
