Thumbs Up - Artesia Punishers Org

by kevin » Tue Dec 25, 2012 11:40 am

I just wanted to give a shout out to the Artesia Punishers Org. My brother just moved into the Artesia area a few months ago and he comes over for Christmas Eve and asks me if I know about an Artesia Punishers softball team. I say yes and he proceeds to tell me how they rode through the streets of Artesia yesterday giving out presents to the kids. Needless to say the area they chose has a lot of less fortunate families and he went on and on about how happy all the kids were in the neighborhood to receive gifts. He was told they do this every year. Great job Punishers you made a lot of kids very happy. God Bless.

Just another great reason why so many people put their heart & soul into this thing we call travel softball. Our neighbors see us every weekend at the crack of dawn loading up our cars with coolers, softball bags, chairs, hitting nets, buckets and of course our daughters and not really knowing it is much more than playing a game. Just like what the Artesia Punishers did for their community by giving to the less fortunate during Christmas. Under the umbrella of softball, these female athletes under our care and guidance are learning much more than a game, they are learning to be caring, giving, role models to other young girls. Outstanding job to the Artesia Punishers organization and players for their compassion to others during Christmas !

This is something we have done for over 8 years. Some years we have been fortunate to have enough gifts for all the kids some years, not. This was a wonderful year. It was mostly due to the amazings teams who suppport our tournaments and are generious in their toy donations and to those teams, we thank you!!! But, this is also a lot of work for the teams and parents as well. We all work hard to put the games together rain or shine.

The most gratifying part of all of this, the smiles on the kids faces. Priceless!!!

Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen and the teams for their donations. A huge thank you also to Bob and Deann for helping put it all together so that the community has something to look forward to every year.

Certainly a great example of what Christmas is all about. I would say 'great job' Punishers, but I know it was not a 'job' but a labor of love for all those involved!

Humility...Pride...Joy...Charity...

Happy New Year to you all!
