New Parent looking for 12U team

You didnt upset me at all, but I agree with you that at 12 and 14u, your PRIMARY concern should be coaching, NOT college placement. Get a coach in 12u and 14u and by the time you are ready to move on, you will know much more.

Look at our website and most of your questions should be answered in regards to what we are doing. Read the "About" and that will give you info on myself.

I saw the "About" section, but which level does the person mentioned, coach? That was my only reason for asking. I know a lot of organizations have a person(s) that can bring people in, but do they really coach the girls. Know what I mean?

I agree with noncrazy. Since you're DD has already been shortchanged by poor coaching at her old team, you must know what bad coaching looks like. Head out to a local tournament and see what the local teams have to offer for yourself. Maybe even talk to some coaches and parents in between games.

Also, at 12u no need to worry about college placement & recruiting, especially if your DD still needs to work on the basics.

Thank you all for your help. I've gotten a lot of info via PM's as well. Just a few teams/coaches I wanted to ask your guys opinion of. Michelle Granger? Chet Madsen I think? Joe Henderson? Roseville Heat? I'm going to try to watch all of them play, just wondering about reputations. Thanks again for all your help. I'm just wanting to make the best decision I can and will go watch them as necessary.

Not sure what Granger is doing in Fall, but she was coaching a 16 or 18u team in San Jose a few weeks ago.

Henderson has a proven track record and been around some top teams . He obviously knows what is up, and you'd be lucky to have a 12u kid around him. Not sure about the other one.

Roseville Heat been around a long time, not sure which coach you are asking about.

I was PM'd about the coaches I had mentioned earlier. It'd said they're all in the 12U age group. Is Michelle Granger just the type that will just get you to her team and coach other age groups? As for Chet Madsen, he seems to coach on a 12U Breeze. Joe Henderson is said to be helping a 12U team in Elk Grove, which is south of Sacramento I guess. There was another person mentioned in that PM that I must have overlooked. Is it Jim Carda or Carta? I wasn't given any other information about the Roseville Heat, just their name. It looks like they have 2 12U teams though.

at this point, you should just stay with PMs, as nobody is going to say what they really think about most coaches.

I have no idea what Granger does. I know she spent some time with a 14u team.. maybe 1-2 seasons, and it might be that same team she is coaching now that has moved up, Im not sure. Youd have to email her and ask what she is doing.

Carda has a daughter at UCLA and coached with Henderson on an outstanding Lady Magic team that won a 16u ASA National Championship. They have experience and knowledge you probably wont find with many other people in that age group. Thats where Id be taking my kid if I lived up there.......... well, of course if I wasnt coaching:) By the way, Henderson has 2 daughters at Cal..... they are pretty good also:)

what is your daughters birthyear? 00 or 01?

Granger coaches a 16U team but has a 12U daughter on a team in her org. to the best of my knowledge

Wait a second, why all the vagueness? this IS the place to talk about coaches and org's, openly on the forum. No bashing needed, just facts. so that being said:

You dont have to email Granger to find out what she is doing, or wait for a pm, you can be advised RIGHT HERE that her teams website is team-california.com OR silverstreak.com Silverstreak is an older team, however her daughter is on a 12U team on team-california. was that so hard? competition is tough it appears, so coaches dont want to provide ANY easy link to a team that may attract talent.

my above question about your daughters birthyear needs to be answered before I can give you any info. There is NOT a lot of good coaching in Sacramento area, there is a SLEW of teams, you need some real facts, not smoke and mirrors. ill answer after i hear birthyear

Grapetts out of Stockton, R&R out of Stockton ( good reputations) Roseville Heat, Cal Breeze Sac area. those are some good reputable teams that you can start with.

She was born in 2001. Whether it be through private message or on the forum, I'm just hoping to get some sound advice. Joe Henderson and Jim Carda are part of LTG Lions was what my message said. I've tried to do research on them but their website isn't very helpful. They seem to be a young team from what I could gather. From what iluvblue said, they seem legitimate coaches.

Is granger going to be helping her daughters 12U team? I haven't looked at her site yet, but are they a young team?
