Who knows or how would someone find out how many fast pitch softball teams from rec ball to gold are in the U S?

How many softball players are there in the U S?

How many softball players are there world wide not counting the U S?

I had looked at each of the governing bodies' websites(ASA, NSA, PONY, LL, Babe Ruth etc...) and used their figures(understanding there was some cross-counting there) Would include NCAA as well

I am glad you asked that question. This is right in my wheelhouse. I like to fancy myself as a math genius.
First if you break it down into a formula it becomes rather easy.
Take all the softball clubs and leagues and teams multiply by an average of 13.5 players, then account for a minimal amount of attrition then divide by the general population of girls in the age range of 8-18. Then subtract the average mean temperature of Huntington Beach and it comes out to 142 softball players in the US.
I am pretty sure I have not mistaken and the answer is relatively correct.

Wikipedia says there are 86,049 youth softball teams in the US - I have no idea if that's a good number. It might just be counting the number of Firecracker teams.....
