ball on stick

I figure someone on here has made the softball on a stick to help pitchers. like the tightspin trainer except not able to change resistance.

whats the best way to make it? drill hole through center of ball, use dowel rod and a screw/bolt?

i could go through trial and error but wanted to get some help from the pros

You want to drill a 1/16th" hole through the ball...insert a 2" X 12" dowel....cover the entire ball with bees wax....bake the entire contraption in a 350 degree oven for 6 hours.....soak in gasoline for 13 minutes.....remove from fuel....throw it in the street and set it on fire.....

Who ever heard of a ball on a stick as a tool for a pitcher??????

my DD pitching coach use to have one.
where the ball spins freely on the end of a dowel rod to practice different pitch releases/snaps.
like a homemade version of the tightspin trainer. I know where to buy a tightspin trainer.

so i take it you think pitching aids like the tightspin trainer are not useful or productive?

You take it correctly....tell her to pick up a ball and spin it when she is sitting in the dugout or watching TV at home....you'll save a lot of money.

DD's pitching coach has her practice spin using a roll of masking tape. Seems to work well for her.....plus it's cheap

The spin right spinner and the tightspin trainer are very useful tools IMO. Many of the top pitching coaches use both of them. You can use a rolled up piece of tape for a spinner but the spinner itself has a much better feel to it, it even has molded seams and I think it"s only like 20 bucks, but then again, during these tough economic times that roll of tape looks better and better.
