How will ASA's new policy affect your team?

Beginning with the 2009 season, for Championship Play (States, Area and Open Qualifiers, Regionals, ASA and USA Softball Nationals) ASA will require EVERY coach in the dugout to be ACE certified.

Will this affect the business side of your team when it comes to determining what path to take to participate in post-season play?

We have had this policy in Central Cal ASA for a couple of years. It has not been a problem and with the Background Check it is now even better. It is not fool proof, as we all know there are some coaches who should not be coaching, but having an education and continuing education policy is better than nothing, unless you cannot pass the test or back ground check.

How ridiculous. Instead of micro managing the dugout ASA should be worrying about losing market share around the country and the general dissatisfaction most participants have with the way they run their program.

The lemmings will buy ASA's bogus ACE certification crap and continue to support ASA. No effect.

What they should do is go to a more customer friendly organization, but they won't....too sold on the ASA Koolaid.

What level of certification is going to be required? Just level 1 or all the way to level 4? Not like there is any info on the ASA site....

Word on the street is that ASA will carry their own version of a coach's jail, a wooden box with no windows ASA calls "The Hole." Upon finding a coach with inadequate ACE certification, ASA will place the offending coach in their jail. Believe me, my friends....you don't want to spend any time in.......The ACE Hole.....

I don't believe the "level" has anything to do with being certified other than just completing the task for each previous level, so I would assume any level of certification.
