Select Ball vs. High School Fall Leagues

by YplayAwhenucanplayB » Wed Oct 08, 2008 8:18 pm

Are these High School fall leagues messing up your players? Is it a good thing? Is this dad's chance to show off his kid for their high school coach?

Why are these leagues so easy to get together, yet......where are the select leagues?

Select leagues? You mean private lessons during the week and every weekend for 8-10 years isn't enough? Actually, there are several associations around here that offer select leagues. They are mostly occupied by B or new teams.

I am really enjoying fall ball. DD is just a season pickup for an out of district school (8th grader) and we are loving it. She has so much more confidence, laughs, and gets to try new things in actual games. It's VERY refreshing to see her personality light and fun while playing. It also helps to have a good coach that encourages them to try new situations.

My only concern was her timing due to decreased pitch speeds, but 3 or 4 slower at-bats isn't going to kill her.

And no, it doesn't hurt that her future hs varsity coach happens to stroll by. :D
