insoftballnut I agree getting to USA/ASA nationals in most states is probably not easy but in Indiana it is much easier. Look at the facts. In Michigan to receive the berth compuware had to finish first in a tourney with 18 good teams. In Indiana one of the qualifiers had six teams and the second one five teams. The five teams were combined 10 and 12.
If I were a team from Michigan or Illinois trying for a berth I would register my team in Indiana as well and play here. The odds are much better for winning one.
"ln most ASA reigons they give {1} berth only to a 1st place state winner to go to nationals and it has to be an USA/ASA qualifier." Actually states receive berths based on how many ASA teams are registered in the state and as we have seen with Raiders Black's berth some tourneys give berths to the top finishers not just the first place team. One of the tourney's we played in Illinois gave a berth to the first and second place finishing team. Unfortunately we placed forth.
Yes I am fairly new to travel softball but I am not guessing I am asking questions. Isn't that one of the purposes for joining a discussion board? The board gives you the opportunity to ask questions, share opinions and learn from people who have more experience.
I believe asking if ASA requires participates in the USA/ASA National Championship to have played in their state tourney is a legitimate question. Since NSA requires participation it would make sense ASA did as well. But I gather from your answer they do not.
I am curious why, on more then one occasion, you have mentioned ASA is not for everyone. It would seem you think ASA is not for my team. Yet my team plays ASA and has a berth to Nationals.
