Shout out to South Bay Stars 97 for taking 16U Gold bracket in Sacramento this past weekend.

The only thing better than a weekend of great softball is a 3-day weekend of great softball.

The pool play on Sat. was relatively low key and then things started to heat up on Sunday with many of the matchups worthy of being showcased on must see TV.

In the gold bracket on Mon., the semis were filled with the usual suspects including Smash, Breeze, Sorcerers and one relatively newcomer RBI.

RBI looked very good all weekend and their coaching was impressive. Tenshun Props for busting onto the scene and making the other top teams take notice.

Norcal Shockers also had an impressive run and beat some very good comp.

Nice job by South Bay Stars 97 taking the ship in 16u. I'm sure they surprised quite a few.

High schoolers trickling back, very good new teams on the scene and the list of top contenders in 14u just got a bit longer. All in all, I'd say the state of Norcal softball is strong.

Is South Bay Starz 97 a 14u team playing up or is that a legit 16u team?

According to their roster, they're all 2015s.

I watched the last couple of RBI games at Lone Tree, they are very impressive. The RBI coach hanging from the top of the fence in the dugout screaming like a caged animal was not very impressive. I think it took away from all the hard work their players were doing on the field. A little over the top in my opinion.

new pecking order with starz winning? top 3 in 16s were 14s, and smash and sorcerers in 14s..after that any teams going to compete at the 14 level at nationals?

I guess it depends on what snapshot you saw. I didn't see the incident you are referring to, but I have seen many very good coaches lose their cool.

Still a very solid new team IMO and a welcome addition to the Norcal landscape.

Just to clarify, was not talking about their head coaches. One of the other adult coaches helping out in the dugout.

The Sacramento Memorial Day Tournament is one of the best run tournaments of the year. No gate fee, good food, your own food allowed, fields in great shape, results posted on the net ASAP and temporary fences put up in the outfield. Does anyone know why Fresno does not put up outfield fences ??? would be nice.
