Prayers for Indiana teens

by slapperdad » Fri Mar 16, 2012 10:49 am

Most recent info I have is Emily is doing well. Her symptoms at this point all have been predictable and anticipated with a lightning strike. In fact the last word I got was she's getting pretty feisty. And anyone who knows Emily, knows exactly what that means.

I was able to speak with her shortly after they took the ventilator off last night. She wanted to know what happened, and she wanted to know when she could play Softball. I am so honored to be able to coach young women like Emily.

The other three girls were treated and released from the local hospital. They are all having severe headaches, dizziness, and tingling in their extremities.

The team met this morning, we shared some tears and some laughs. We are a family, we're leaning on each other, we've got each other's back, and we're going to get thru this. We got some physical and emotional stuff to get thru, and together, we're going to get thru it and move forward. Emily would have it no other way.

Lastly I would like to say, the outpouring of support has been overwhelming. The Softball community is just awesome. I told Emily last night, you have no idea how many people are thinking about you and praying for you. It's truly just overwhelming to me, from the bottom of my heart thank you.

Brian,

I was obviously devastated when I heard the news and have been praying for everyone. Having had the pleasure of meeting and working with these kids it is so difficult to comprehend.

May God's grace guide all of you as you move forward and into the season ahead. I guess it is moments like this that make us stop and think why we love this game and the kids that play it regardless of the level.

I will call you and would like to do anything I can to help in the weeks ahead or if there is anything I can do for you now all it takes is a call or a text.

God's speed to all of you!!!

Quick update, Emily continues to improve. She is doing very well. She is still at Riley though the conversation is starting to be about sending her home. From the Seymour Softball family and Emily's family, we thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and support. Her dad told me, "I don't think it matters what the doctors say, I don't think anyone's going to keep her off the Softball field." That's just the kind of kid she is.

Happy to report that Emily went home yesterday. She got settled in and in her mom's words "it's all good". Thanks again for all your support and prayers.

Quick update on Emily. She was released by her doctors at Riley yesterday, Monday 3-26, 11 days after her strike. She was entered to pinch hit in the top of the 6th last night in our game with Edinburgh and slapped a base hit in the 5-6 hole.

I think Emily is well on her way back to normalcy as is Seymour Softball. Thanks again for all your support and prayers throughout this trying time for our team.
