Top high school teams?

Know there are a few coaches on here and a lot of fans. What are the top teams for nor-cal out there?

It depends on what area in Nor Cal and in what division. If you are talking overall best teams, well you can go to espn rise and see the fab 50 that just came out. http://espn.go.com/high-school/softball/team-rankings/fab50
Mitty out of San Jose is 3 and Sheldon out of sacramento/elk grove is 19. Both teams have talented players and will do well, although the rankings are purely preseason. If your talking which teams in the Sacramento area will do well in the section, my opinion in D1 you have Sheldon and St. Francis who have the strongest pitching and will be the front runners. D2 You have Del Oro, Casa Roble returning a lot of players and Woodcreek/Roseville on the outside who could make a run. D3 Rodriguez should still do well even w/out key players, Whitney lost a few but still have a good pitcher, Pioneer may challenge for the top spot this year.
Thats my quick picks off the top of my head for this year. Go ahead and start complaining now......

Its all about the circle, and when that comes to mind you head over the Altamont and no need to head south on the 680, Amador Valley has to be the most underrated team with the best #1/#2 in NorCal, with a future ASU pitcher as #1, and the East Bay POY as #2. It will be cool to see if they butt heads at the Stampede with Mitty. I would love to see how Mitty would have handled the postseason in Sac-Joaquin D-1 last couple of years.

These FAB50 rankings I do not put much into, as there is so much disparity throughout the country in level of play. You could throw in a half dozen SoCal HS teams that are stacked and not anywhere to be found on FAB50 list, not even in the "bubble", and no one would even blink an eye.

I will say this though the #1 team in the land with McDuffie in the circle, is on a different level than any other HS pitcher in the country when she is healthy. Great kid, tough as nails, and nice family, and thank god she is still resting her arm, those schools in Texas play like a 50 game schedule, its ridiculous...

Locally, in Southern half of Section, Sierra, Oakdale in lower division are good, and Johansen will be around as always.

Wow high school ball is like playin craps! You roll the dice every Febuary and hope you land on your lucky number of travel ball players and let's not forget those who land a solid pitcher and catcher stand a chance at success unlike most others.

Archbishop Mitty of course..Amador Valley vs James Logan in north coast section. Logan has been in section final two years running. Sac Joaquin section- Sheldon,Johansen and St.Marys.

I agree in bay area, you have Logan, Mitty, Amador and throw in Heritage. There is a few others too. St. Marys out of stockton, I'm not aware of as being a contender, but we will see.

Does anyone have G2 on Clovis West? Saw they split a pair with Mitty on Saturday.

I dont think anyone had Clovis West on their radar. Just checked Cal Hi Sports and they weren't ranked in the state either. They put 5 runs up on Mittys #1 in a loss. Impressive.
Checking around on maxpreps, looks like Logan beat Alameda, Sheldon over Rodriguez, Cosumnes Oaks over Pleasant grove and St. Marys over Elk Grove. Most other teams getting started in a few days.
Maybe the guy above is right, St. Marys(2-0) a dark horse this year?

Clovis West is good. They have a a full squad of travel players. 5 or 6 will be playing at the next level. Most of the girls play in the Dirt Dog organization.

Yeah spotting 5 runs on a pitcher the caliber of Mitty's #1 (Cal bound) is very impressive. Clovis West is coming up to San Jose this Friday to play a pair at Valley Christian.

Based on the score of the second game it begs the question how much pitching depth Mitty has. Something to keep an eye on I guess.
