For the player, tell her to have fun and enjoy..........
For the parent watching, bring Jack Daniels..........

The experience will vary by school. Some school's have a great program overall, making the JV team a strong group that would beat many varsity teams.

Unfortunately, there are many that are interesting to watch.

In my limited observations, schools that have just 2 teams (JV and Varsity) are more likely to have an OK JV program. Like everywhere else, pitching is the key issue. With only 2 teams to staff, they are more likely to have OK pitching at the lower level.

HS ball is supposed to be fun, even in the weaker programs. Relax and enjoy the show and time to visit with old friends that you don't get to see on the TB circuit.

I'm there with you. A little disappointed freshman daughter didn't make varsity but she will definitely get more playing time on JV. The JV team starting 9 should be pretty good so it won't be too painful.

My DD is a freshman play jv. Looking for opinions from those that have gone through this.

Gone through like its a bad thing. My DD was on JV her freshman year and our Varsity was very competetive. So the HS coach said she can make varsity no problem she's just not going to take the starting seniors spots and will start every JV game. She had a blast in JV won 98% of their games and was pulled up to varsity for every tournament (also lettered her freshman year). I just wanted my kid to play innings cause sitting on the bench on the varsity team would've done her no good. I see dads and moms beg the HS coach every year for their kid to make varsity weather they play or not and just sit there miserable the entire season. Every year is different some years the talent pool is great and others are not as great just depends. My DD is now a starting senior putting up great numbers the last couple of years and still to this day the HS coach probably doesn't even know my name. Let your kids grow up in HS and let them compete on their own. My 2 cents.
