TB Dues expected while Dark?

by sho nuff » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:44 pm

WTF? Just heard from my DD's team/parents that her team is going to charge dues while they are dark. Has anyone heard of this? Any advice? (Other than looking for a new team). This is an 18G team- Albeit, not one of the "Top Dogs".

This is not so uncommon... Usually your team budget covers the whole year. Just cause you're not playing, doesn't mean your installments stop. Your team probably breaks down the cost for the entire year into installments. It has nothing to do with if you are playing or not. Think of it as a payment plan and not pay as you go.

I thought every 16U and 18U team pays dues while dark. I know we are paying dues and fundraising while dark. try having your DD play volleyball, three times the amount. I am good paying while dark as long as we continue to play in good showcases and tournaments.

Why don't you just ask her coach,we collect dues during the high school season for the summer budget. You did get a budget, right. He or she is most likely making it easy for you instead of hitting you all at once with team fees.

On a 18G team, I am not sure if you realize how expensive the showcases are. Budgets are usually for the season & not pay as you go, so your monthly dues cover your overall seasonal bill. Not uncommon at all.

It cost XX amount of dollars to play for the year. Pay it all at once or over the year each month. Most teams do try to make it easy for families by paying each month.

Most of the good Showcases and tournaments for 16U and 18U need to be paid right now, if you plan to get in them.

The total annual dues amount is the important number. Some teams break up the year into 2 or 3 seasons and charge a fee for each season. You end up paying 2 or 3 large payments each year. Many may find having the same fee broken up into 12 payments easier on the budget.
