Church and Softball?

What's on your mind?

Jobi, as we all know too well , you can find a biblical quote to justify anything it seems, but my favorite for this situation is "God made the sabbath for man, not man for the sabbath."

I Coach HS Varsity at an academy-like(K-12th) Private Christian High School and I should be getting probably one of the saddest cases of a Youth player I've ever heard. Saw this girl play and I'll venture to say she's probably the best fielding SS I have seen in HS games and the travel teams I've coached against. Unfortunate the girl has never played travel because her parents don't like that majority teams play or practice Sunday mornings. So she plays rec and only sees rec pitching(Has a pretty decent bat for not seeing the greatest pitching ever). Again the girl moves like a D1 fielder to say the least for no reason other than great genes and natural ability and someone with bat&ball knowledge in her family. It's really sad if you see her and know the story.

I don't think parents should really impede a kid from reaching a high level just for religious purposes. I'm not telling anyone how to raise their kid, but if you want to pay for college all out of pocket then be my guest.

Seems to me that there was a Jewish player in MLB that would not play Saturday day games years ago ...

G, I believe God wants us to use the talents He gave us - not hide them under a basket.

JC. If someone is into softball only for the scholarship I think thats the wrong reason. If I was to take all the money spent on softball. travel, lessons and equipment and such. put it into a 529 account. there would be plenty to pay for school. plus take into account how many actually get a FULL ride....

some on here said it's not the destination it's the journey. I liked that.

my older DD1 is in college and has been going to our church since she was born. she has made life long friends from church. she never played travel. only rec and loves the game. she is helping me coach.

DD2 played one season and didn't care for softball.

DD3 and DD4 both love the game are are gifted. how ever. they are still 10u and as a parent I made a decision. they need church more than softball right now. that's my 2cents.

So do I and I am a little past the 10u age. Fortunately, there is ample time for both.

this is what i have to say tonight. Even if you go to church every day, it doesn't make a difference if your heart is not in the message. God knows our hearts, and we can never mock God. thank you and have a good night. the Lord bless you all.
