I follow the 3a around here (Corpus, south texas area) but not up that way, lot of my girls were from small towns with 3a schools, so I tried to get by and see them play at least once a season. I didnt know that about Tomball - there are a lot of good leagues and teams up that way - my educated bet is that yall will have your hands full. I have seen Sealy at a tournament, they were well coached - this was a couple of years ago, so dont think that would be very helpful. This year, my youngest of the 15 or so I coached is a senior in high school.

Thanks, Donnie.

I had a sneaking hunch that Sealy had/has a solid program. This year TM is 9/10 grade only and picked over at that as many kids who are in the new school boundaries were able to get grandfathered in at Tomball. It's gonna be a bit painful this year, I think

Sounds like a leadership opportunity for your kid. Is she a freshman ?

Having talked to my share of college coaches over the years, the good ones are interested in how a kid handles challenges. Who are the good ones ? Thats the tough thing to figure out.

A couple of years back we were in the same district with Sealy, Columbus and Bellville. We met up with Columbus in the playoffs last year and almost always play Bellville in the pre-season.

Sealy - definitely the best team out of this group. A junior pitcher with a pretty strong riseball and some speed (last time we saw her - I'm sure she's improved since her freshman debut). They also have some nice hitting. One of their kids (was playing 2b last time we saw her) is future D1 - may have committed and I'm just unaware. Their junior class is their strongest, so they'll be good next year as well.

Bellville - we beat them last year in the pre-season while the majority of our girls were still in basketball, but I heard that they really improved as the season progressed. They had a lot of potential early on in the season last year.

Columbus - I think they may have lost their coach, but unconfirmed. I also believe that their starting pitcher graduated. They won the toss in our playoff and opted for a single game rather than a series because they only had the one pitcher. If they don't have any underclass pitching, they could struggle.

You're welcome and good luck this season!

Regarding my above post and the college bound Sealy player, just saw that she committed to Houston Baptist via Fastpitch Scouting Report.
