How far has the travel taken you?

Travel ball means many thing to many people- for some the travel is to neighboring towns- for others it may be much farther.

What is the farthest your DDs team(or just she) has travelled? Would love the HB crowd let some of those just starting out how much "travel" their can be-

For my DD-

Team travelled from CT to Utah(Park City) That same summer DD played with a team in Italy(Milan, Florence, parma, & Rome)- that fall she went to rising Stars in Florida (their were teams there from BC, Canada)

Another summer the team did NSA in Charlotte, NC and then the TCS Word Series in Myrtle Beach


I am sure their are some pretty wild itineraries out there!!

For around here, we traveled a lot, but we are from deep south Texas and besides Houston, Central Texas, Dallas, we made trips to Ok, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Missouri, and Colorado.

Early on, I made friends with folks from the California softball scene and they gave me a lot of help that in my opinion is what helped my girls (both the ones that live in my house and my 'other' daughters) the ability to step on up. One of the most important things I learned early on was - as soon as you can, move out of rec, play any and all local tournaments UNTIL you are winning or are in the championship most of the time, then move on. Find other areas to play in that your families can handle - and go play there until you are winning a lot there - then move on. Winning a lot doesnt mean you are good, it only means you arent playing good competition.

Excellent response- was looking for more on the "experience" side, but like the way you took it. Excellent advice for those testing the waters. I like the gradual growth approach. IMO too many teams either stay too long in their comfort zones or try jump too high, too fast.

From California, we have traveled to Indiana, Illinois, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and Nevada - will be going to Canada in the next year or so as well.
