surf city showcase nov 20

heard this showcase is a good one. A lot of college coaches and good competition. Is this true? How is this one compared to the others down there?

This is probably the best to attend! But since your asking, don't expect to be placed on the best fields against the best teams. Thus don't expect scouts to flock to your game. It will take several years of attending and establishing yourself as an established team in order to earn your way onto the best fields and a favorable schedule.

I agree that this is one of the "must attend" tourneys in the fall , however I disagree about coaches not flocking to other fields to check out other players.
Your right you have to be established to play at HB on the best fields, etc.
Having said that, there are quite a few teams with a lot of commits and from feedback I have got, why would they spend valuable time recruiting top tier teams with 8-9 commits?
Bottom line IMO the coaches will follow the players that are showing interest in their program and the teams that are doing their recruiting homework and it is their responsibility to get the coaches to come out. It gets down to your head coach/college liason also contacting these coaches and getting them out to your fields. The fields generally arent THAT far apart.

Just wanted to give them a heads up of what to expect and not get disappointed if scouts don't flock to their game and the reason why.

Makina ,
Totally understand what your saying, and really your right as far as the "bulk" of the coaches will be at HB complex while the others get some stragglers. I guess I was trying to not totally discourage them. Also in the past I have seen teams on other fields routinely get 3-5 coaches per game scouting, so its not unheard of. Just depends on the team and how diligent your coaches are. It's definately an uphill battle if your a mid range team, but it can be done.

Yes, your comments are right on. We've been on Goldenwest fields before and have had 3-5 scouts looking at specific girls who had done their prep work to get the scouts out to our game with a mid level team. But we've also been on the main fields 1-4 at HB Sports Complex and had over 20 scouts watching with a high profile team.

So hopefully they get an understanding of the hard work it will take to attract scouts to their games.

surf city showcase oct 7th,8th,9th. was just over at the fields at huntington beach sports complex about 11:00am this morning and infields are a little on the soft side. talk to the field supervisor and he said they need some stronger winds to come to help dry the fields. still unsure on the friday games at the time i was talking to him, but said it would be better at this time not to play on fri.but will wait and see
