Too Many Travel Teams in Indiana

Slapper, good thoughts on Gold. Parents/Players considering Gold should attend an event like the Demarini and see what gold teams really look like bfore they commit to something they do not understand. The really good Gold teams have 17-20 players, are athletic to another degree and do not have parents/fans shouting ridiculous things from the stands during games. They have been there before and act like it; they have a single focus and that is softball. Finances cannot be an issue and you cannot be afraid of travel. Putting "GOLD" behind your name and playing in Indiana all summer is NOT Gold softball. I really believe there are only enough talented players in Indiana with the right combination of finances, desire, focus, parents and total commitment to support 1 or maybe stretching it to 2 real Gold teams. More than that just dilutes the division right now.

I believe that every athlete deserves the opportunity to improve their game. If we keep all of the players in league ball then how do we gain all star teams and then how do we get travel teams.

We always have to start at the bottom to get to the top. Look at the Magic gold how did they get where they are at! Some dad had a daughter that wanted to play softball and it started there.

They were not always great they worked hard and recruited good players! Where did they come from leagues! There are stepping stones in everything we do in life and crappie teams to good teams are how they start! Just my two cents worth :roll:

All good posts here, and isn't this really about supply and demand? If X number of players want to play on a travel softball team the result is Y number of teams. If X goes down, then Y goes down. Isn't it possible to hold a tryout and not enough players show up to make a team? Or not enough players accept offers to join? I can't believe that has never happened.

Ship the NSA B World Series out to the same distance as A Nationals and I bet you see those B teams that should be playing A ball actually play A Ball. When the B world is in your own back yard there is going to be alot of sandbagging.
