Well, the season is over. Good for some players and parents, sad for others. I was fortunate to see a lot of games in Fishers this past week. A few tough teams were eliminated early (Ambush, Xtreme, Crush). And a couple of unexpected teams made it to the final four (Valpo Phoenix and Lady Bandits). I watched both final four games and I was extremely disappointed in the Crown Point Bulldogs - Frazier. The girls seemed to play like a typical B team with the erros and lack of hitting, but the base coaching was terrible. I don't understand why a coach would try to send a girl from third to home with no outs on a tag up when the ball is barely hit out of the infield, especially being down some runs. There was also another play at the plate where the runner was out my many feet because of ridiculous base running. Those two idiotic moves cost the Bulldogs two runs and two additional outs. The Valpo Phoenix did beat the teams that they were expected to beat; however, they had no chance against Team Oak, as proven by the scores of both games they played against each other. In my opinion, Team Oak should have played in the A world series. My daughter is looking to move up to 12's next year and she/I have a lot of options here in Central Indiana. It seems like the best teams are either located here or Northwest Indiana. So I asked my good friend up there which are the best teams, and he told me that there are many options up there as well. He states that the Orland Sparks, Orland A's, White Sox Academy and New Lennox Lightning will more than likely draw the best girls to tryout. I haven't seen any of them play. I have also heard that the Bulldogs are going to lose a lot of players. From watching the coaching in the final game of the season, I can't say I blame them. Well, on to 12U in the coming weeks. Hope to see some familiar faces around the Indy area next year!

I agree with you Crimson on all but one team, the Valpo Phoenix. There is absolutely no way that they are on the same continent as the majority of the other teams that you listed. Their pitching is very weak and the hitting is about the same. They also make quite a few more errors than your typical "A" team does. I have not seen them at any "A" tourneys this year that these other teams have been at. From what I hear, they seek out the "B" tourneys cause they know they can't compete at the "A" level. Maybe next year they will be better (with some quality pick-ups) and even get on the same continent as some of these other "A" teams. I could be wrong, but I don't see them placing in the upper third in the "B" World Series. Some of these other teams that are going "B" (Xtreme, Bulldogs, etc.) should place really high in Fishers.

I see where most teams might have to tell all of their accomplishments on active.com for their tryouts when competing with well known teams and organizations. But when an established team thinks they have to tell the world their record and recieved hardware and even offer spots on teams without a tryout. I think that equals sell out not tryout. The best organizations stand by their name on their own two feet without shouting out to the world "look how good we are!" Just sayn :?

Ahem, what? We were talking "A" teams buddy, not "B". If Crown Point's coach(es) wouldn't have helped give the game away, then it would have been Crown Point and Team Oak Stars in the championship game. The Phoenix earned some respect in the "B" world, but still wouldn't have comepeted in the "A" world!
