It is has been too quiet on the Bucket for a while…time for some hot sports opinions!
Is it time to stir up VeneralTransmittedDisease (VTD) VS ASA argument again!
I am wondering if VTD has finally jumped the shark? For those of you that do not know what this term means “Jumping the shark” is an idiom, first employed to describe a moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality that is beyond recovery.
If the way the VTD World Series was presented last weekend from the lousy Opening Ceremonies to the poor choice of field locations, to the season long problem with poor quality VTD umpires to the last minute begging sub-par to play in a World Series, I think so! (Did you notice the decline list in each age group?) Expecting 50+ teams and only getting 20 to 30. And teams that were invited shouldn’t be playing in a World Series in the first place.
And how many of you got that telemarketing call from VTD (using private emergency contact phone numbers listed on individual team page) asking to “invest” $3000.00 and but that voice on the other end of the line could not present a prospectus to show how that investment was going to be used and what the rate of return would be, and how it would be paid out? I am sure the FTC would love to know about this?
For you VTD supporters…ever ask yourself why the a lot of the top teams in DFW only use VTD as a necessary evil, and mostly play ASA or Premier tournaments, and rarely use VTD in their organizational resumes?
Yes, VTD caught ASA with its pants down, I will give them that, and yes that internet page was real cool, but has become stale. Come on, surely ASA or Premier can come in and straighten out this mess and restore Select Travel North Texas Fast Pitch Softball to prominence, and leave the VTD organization and its lousy poorly trained umpires to rec ball where they belong!
If the folks at ASA can get their $%^& together they have a chance here to get back in the game! Stop using the non-profit excuse….the dollars are there just use them wisely and find someone that can rebuild the relationships with the local cities to get the good fields again.
