Texas Gold Teams at Nationals - Predictions

by 93players » Wed Jul 20, 2011 10:46 pm

ASA Gold in San Diego - Next week

Batbusters Gold Card (did not play PGF)
Houston Power Glowacz (did not play PGF)
Lethal Weapon (did not play PGF)
Sudden Impact (qualified PGF but chose not to go)
Texas Blaze Slimp (did not play PGF)
Texas Fusion (did not play PGF)
Texas Glory Adkins (did not play PGF)
Texas Impact (playing in both)

(8 vs 12 last year). Texas teams underperformed in GA, LA and OK qualifiers.

Premier Girls Fastpitch in two weeks

Mizuno Impact Gold (did not play ASA)
Texas Bombers Gold (played ASA, did not qualify)
Texas Eclipse Gold (played ASA, did not qualify)
Texas Glory Shelton (did not play ASA)
Texas Impact (playing in both)
Texas Kaos Gold (did not play ASA)
Texas Magic Gold (played ASA, did not qualify)
Texas Rapid Fire Gold (did not play ASA)
Texas Storm Gold

Sudden Impact Qualified but is not listed as in the tournament.

Which Texas team will finish highest in each tourney. Impact Gold is a good bet, but there are some sleepers in the gold tourney that could go top 25. I think Gold got the best Texas teams this year. Last year, PGF seemed more even in terms of top quality Texas teams. Maybe some of the teams did not want to spend two weeks in Cali.

It'll still be hot when they find their way home...

Congrats to Impact Gold for coming in second at Gold Nationals. Thought you guys could pull it out against North Florida. At least you should be ready to take on the Premier tourney. This Tx forum has turned into a bunch of dudes wanting to see themselves write idiotic posts. Those parents interested in serious softball should focus on getting their teams to ASA and Premier tourneys. Texas has a long way to go in consistently competing with Florida and California teams.

Just a quick, minor correction. Impact finished 3rd at ASA Gold.

Secondly, I disagree with Texas having a long way to go to compete with California and Florida teams. You have to look at the whole summer and not just one tournament. At ASA Gold natiionals, Houston Power drew Team North Florida in the first round only lost 2-0. In Colorado they beat the defending Premier Champion SoCal Athletics in bracket play. Glory-Shelton has played and beaten California teams all summer long. Impact beat Gold Coast Hurricanes at ASA Gold. I agree that the California teams are still at the top. But as far as Florida goes, on a whole, Texas has better teams. Florida has GCH and TNF, Gators, Stingrays and Team FLA come in after that.
