Hey brother...take whatever test you want. If you're looking for the 'gold standard', please read below...from the National Merit Scholar website:

Students who meet published program entry/participation requirements* enter NMSC competitions by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®) at the specified time in the high school program, usually as juniors.

Note the reference to the "SAT" part please...

The ACT does indeed have a pre-test...and they 'preciate your donation...

I am very familiar with the National Merit Scholarship awards for the top PSAT scores. But the earlier discussion was about the relevance of the ACT vs. SAT. You went so far as to say:
"They're all SAT...and not sure why the ACT still exists." I disagreed with your statement. The NMS awards do not alter the fact that both the SAT and ACT are equally recognized by colleges.

Any college worth a sh#t will take your SAT scores and could care less if you've taken the ACT. A handful will take your ACT, but will ask for SAT scores too. In most cases, you'd better have your SAT scores.

When visiting a couple Cal State colleges for my oldest DD, we were told that the ACT was used more by schools who focus on the Sciences and the SAT was the schools that focus on the Social/Business studies. Take it for what it's worth.

IVY League and NESAC schools accept ACT scores or SAT- Perhaps Joe you should drop your bigoted and ignorant act(or is it) and utilize facts

From what I understand the SATs are the norm on both coasts while the ACTs are more the norm in the center of the country. Since it seems most schools accept either test, it would seem to make sense for the prospective student to submit the best score they can. Our local HS guidance office said that for most students the SAT & ACT scores correlate, but it had been their experience that some students seem to score better on the ACT. If the school accepts both, than why not submit the better score. Some school's now(ie St Lawrence University in New York) make standardized tests optional. Some schools (ie Tufts) like to see Subject SAT scores as well

If your DD can score over 2000 the first time out- more power to them. For some students it requires several times. It is also unfortunate the extra money now spent on SAT prep training etc...

For most prospective student-athletes, academics play a major part in what schools can and do recruit them. SAT/ACT scores are determining factor at many schools if a coach will recruit the player or not. For many schools, if you don't have the grades your not getting in, no matter how good an athlete you are.

As the post suggested- post the scores. It will help in the recruiting and might avoid some dead ends.

Once again Einstein...you're cluless...and mis-"understood". My DD's, brothers and sisters DDs and DSs, cousins, Aunts and Uncles, former players, friends (and foe) ALL live in the "center". SAT is the standard. Period....game, set match...

You get an 'A+' though for coming back for more...

And btw...your money would be much better spent on taking those SAT preps instead of those batting lessons. Again...you're a rookie and I'll excuse you...
