2012s SATs

I was talking to a friend this weekend at CC when a college coach walked up and we all started chatting amongst each other, when out of the blue the college coach says "It always concerns me when a 2012 does not have a SAT score".

This is to Coaches and Parents to get your kids to take the SAT or at the least Post your SAT score(Good or BAD). Then the Coaches at least have something to work with, if you don't have your SAT scores Coaches start thinking your trying to hide something.

Better to have it and not need it, then it is to need it and not have it. The TBA is not working well with the Coaches.

Don't forget to have your daughters take both the SAT and ACT. Both of my kids performed much higher on the ACT. I would only post the best score and from the one exam that shines, unless of course both scores are excellent.

Yea, I'm just finding out that California(West Coast) go by SAT scores whereas the rest of the country go on ACT scores.

East Coast is SAT also- but my DD took the ACT too- she got a higher score and at least shows the coaches the extra effort

They're all SAT...and not sure why the ACT still exists.

My eldest DD's Nor. Cal. University took her ACT. She scored in the 80th % on the test. My youngest is being asked by her East Coast teams to take the ACT in September.

ACT I was told is more like taking a test in HS, whereas the SAT is more logic based.

If I'm right, I believe the ACT is more of a True/False whereas the SAT is Multiple Choice A,B,C,D,All of the Above.

Hmmmmm....Interesting? I wonder why they call it the PSAT? You know.... the one test that is used to identify National Merit Scholars. Of course...the PSAT is what? ...the test you take to prepare you for the SAT!!! No such plan w/ the ACT.

But then, I have the benefit of (hindsight) sending four DDs to college and ALL 40 of the schools they applied to accepted SAT scores. None asked for ACT scores...These include BIG 12, SEC, Ivy, WAC, and a few others.

If your DDs choice of school is 'requiring' ACT scores...you might want to take a second look...

Take whatever tests you like...if you like pissing your coin away. Focus on (and study for) your SAT and you'll be just fine...

It should also be noted that here in CA students can begin taking the SAT as a sophomore in h.s. and up to 3-4 times a year, or until they get the score their school of intent is looking for.
