I keep hearing tha PGF is a west coast or CA thing. [Is that because of the location? The promoter?] Yes. When you put them together. [The teams attending? ASA Gold is in San Diego this year. Doea that make it a CA thing?] No. No more than teams not attending this year ASA because of PGF. ASA is still the true traditional Nationals.I have been to ASA Nationals 6 times and only once was it even west of the Mississippi. That year was one of the lowest turnouts for Nationals because many of the teams from the East and South did not come all the way to CA. It was still ASA Nationals. Was it a true National Championship without all of the teams attending? Yes. As said before. That tells me that the Westcoast teams are expected to travel and incurr the expense to participate but other parts of the country only attend if it is convenient. Why are we self centered or selfish to want Nationals out here once in a while. PGF does have plans to move the tournament in the future. Where?Would that give them more credibility with the rest of the counrty? I would think it would but will have to see in time.As I said we did it every year and I don't regret any of the trips, they were all full of good memories, but a litle balance is a good thing as well.

This is just my point of view of how I perceive this after reading all the discussion up to now from various threads and in no way am I being belligerent toward you guys for wanting a National closer to you because I know that in a few years I could be completely wrong but for now...

It would seem that PGF was started...1st because of ASA not listening to the customer's wants and needs...2nd west coast folks are tired of traveling and incurring the costs of the travel to play each other in championship play so therefore created a National so people would come to them at the same time proclaiming themselves as the top National because of the teams attending even though it is predominantly Cali teams. Now with all of this, you have basically a Cali run National, in Cali, with home field advantage, with Cali teams already being considered the best in the Nation. Can you honestly say that you wouldn't feel the same way if the roles were reversed?

The way I see it, there are two types of teams that attend ASA Nationals. First is a team that thinks it can compete nationally. That team would go to the tournament, no matter where it was held. They would be looking to maybe not win the title, but a good finish (ie...Top 10). The second type of team is one that worked hard just to qualify and it would be a nice way to end a season. That team may or may not go depending on the location and the expense involved. PGF simply eliminates that type of team from its tournament. For now, at least you should only get teams that want to see how they stack up against the best teams(Cali) at PGF.
While both tournaments will claim a National Champion, I would love to see a best of 3 series between the winners. I think a top 10 finisher in ASA would probably be a top 10 finisher in PGF. Good luck to all of the teams entered in both.

PGF can say all they want that it's the best of the best but that's just an assumption. You can't sit here and say just because some teams that opted to play ASA last year were not good enough because you dont know that. I watched alot of games in Boulder the last 2 years and the rest of the country is catching up or already caught up with us. I would've really liked my DD experience OK City for Gold nationals but the "good ole boys" were tired of going there every year so they screwed it up for everybody else. To be honest we were in PGF nationals last year in the HS division and it felt to me like a surf city showcase and not nationals. Don't get me wrong it was nice to stay home for nationals but it just didn't feel like nationals. I'm glad this is it for me and don't have to listen to all this bull next year. But good luck to ASA or PGF whoever thinks there the best.
