would like to start a new 14U team in North Dallas.

by bigdumbaggie » Thu Jul 14, 2011 7:13 am

Hi. trying to do something a little different for North Dallas. Looking to Hire a couple of former D1 Softball players (women of course) to coach a select team. Really trying hard to migrate away from daddy ball at the younger level.

Any names or contacts of interested individuals would be appreciated.

Thought bigdumbass' quote from VTD might stir up a bit more conversation.

If you are a 98/97 player that loves the game and are frozen out because your daughter plays the same position as the coaches daughter, or she's not a buddy of the coaches daughter, and you are in the North Dallas, Plano area, I'd like to hear from you.

What I want to do is simple. I want to hire two Former D1 softball players (women only) to coach a 14U team. Not D3, but D1 only. We've done this in AAU basketball and been extremely successful.

If you know a coach that fits that profile, I'd like to talk to them and if this idea appeals to you for your daughter, I'd like to hear from you too.

All inquiries confidential.

I dunno...this guys seems to have it figured out except I don't know where in FW he's playing. Certainly can't be talking about Ghettoway and Gotcher's playground...

Thanks Joe. I've been around "Justawatchers" all my life. They never add value. Just watch.

We've been through this over and over in AAU Basketball. McKinney, Allen, Frisco, Plano parents living through their kids and ruining their kids world. That's why they never make it in that sport. They also never make it in Volleyball, another sport run by professionals. Sooner or later, this log jam will come loose.

Granted there is daddyball in Ft. Worth too (i.e. ego driven justawatchers), but in general, the Ft. Worth Crowd is WAY AHEAD. More subtle in their daddy ball, consequently, work better.

Fact is, you can hire top coaches for $40/hr. D1 coaches. Done it in AAU Basketball for years. Divide that by 10 and it doesn't cost anything.

So Justawatcher, until you can change your name to "add value" or "get involved", instead of " i don't do anything", cool the name calling.

thanks Joe.

This isn't my first rodeo. I coached a long time. Long enough to know kids deserve quality teaching.

There is certainly nothing wrong with the idea. Non-parent, experienced former players coaching a team. Translating their experience to verbal communication and demonstration may be the challenge. You get the right former players and you may have yourself an enjoyable, productive experience.

I don't have a kid to give you, otherwise I would be happy to follow the path.

I agree with the above...getting a former D1 player who is Female, doesn't guarantee you anything...the common argument...was Jason Garrett a Troy Aikman? Absolutely not, but x's and o's...I'd rather have Red J running the team.

Best of luck to you, there is a nice share of daddy ball in North DFW area...i'm just not sure hiring a bunch of former D1 ball players is the answer to your solution. I know a couple of women head coaches that played ball at the highest level...who have the hardest time translating it to the female athlete.

How does posting a quote YOU made from VTD make me an ego-driven, name calling, idiot, that has no value to add?

For the sake of conversation, what is your basis that the "Ft. Worth Crowd" is "way ahead"? I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm just curious.

Is it high school ball?
(5A Plano beats Keller to go to state.)

Is it top finishes from DFW at Hall of Fame?
(14U: Glory Adkins 2nd & Glory 3rd, 16U: Glory Naudin & Glory Poole 5th, 18U: N/A)

Is it active DI Commits?
(For a frame of reference I looked at kids from Glory Adkins, American Freedom, Rapid Fire, and Glory who were all argued on this board as top recruiting organizations. Dallas Side: 16, FW Side: 12)

Is it NTX Teams Attending 14U-18U ASA A Nationals according to the respective host's website?
(Dallas: 6, FW: 2)

Is it NTX Teams Attending 14U-18U Premier Nationals according to the PGF website?
(Dallas: 5, FW: 3)

Just trying to get your perspective so I can add value in my next post.

justawatcher. just keep watching. That's what you are good at. (by the way, a name like justawatcher hanging around girls softball fields is just down right creepy.)

I'm not here to keep you engaged so you can watch, I'm trying to do something different. Go argue somewhere else.

FACT IS: even at a "high level" of kid softball in the area, it's all marginal. we'd just be arguing over which is worse, not which is better. We went through this in basketball 20 years ago. Now Dallas basketball is some of the best in the country. It's an evolution and dinosaurs have to die.

Joe, lots and lots of interest. Neat to see
