OK, I'll start it, who got the bids this week?

See http://downloads.asasoftball.com/about/ ... ACode2.pdf.

Article 510 H 02:

02. Incomplete Tournament. In the event a national qualifier, regional,
territorial qualifier or national championship final tournament cannot be
completed within the scheduled time frame the following procedures shall be
used to break ties among teams in the same spot in the bracket.
a. Head to head competition.
b. The team that advanced the farthest in the winner’s bracket.
c. Won-loss records, except among undefeated teams.
d. If only two teams are tied for a position and have played each other,
the winner of that game.
e. The teams shall be ranked according to the fewest runs allowed per
game played.
f. If a tie still exists, the teams shall be ranked according to the most runs
scored per game played.
g. If a tie still exits, by a coin toss.

I was not at Plainfield, so I cannot comment on that situation. But, I was at Bloomington and agree with Gunshy on how things were handled there. We cannot control the weather and strive to do the best with the circumstances that we are given.

I will be in Bloomington this upcoming weekend as the ASA rep, so if any of you have any questions or comments before, during, or after please do not hesitate to contact me.

This pisses me off even more:
1. It COULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETED within the time frame.
2. Head to head competition, Shockwaves BEAT Team Indiana in pool play.
3. I'll be in Bloomington too, I'll look you up, I'll have my daughter with me, you explain to her why we didn't play the tournament out. She's the one who puts in the work, she's the one who makes the sacrifices, she's the one who plays the game, she's the one this is suppose to be about, she's the one ASA cheated this weekend. You look her in the eye, and tell her ASA is not to blame. Better yet, where will Cindy Inman be?

I'm betting the ones complaining would not be saying a thing if they got the bid!!
Insurance cards? You never have those till a week before nationals! Which a couple of you don't need to worry about!

Whatever - Cindy is working on the schedules. She will email them to the coaches and I will post them to the website when they are completed.

Stratos - I'm not hiding behind the rules. I was simply trying to clarify how the berths are handed out for an incomplete tournament. If you think we don't care, you are clearly mistaken. We dedicate many volunteer hours to this organization and want things to go smoothly just as you all do. As to your comment on effort, I do believe that your team forfeited your last game in Bloomington on Friday night and your 16U team was done on Saturday night in Plainfield.

Fat Guy - No one is making any excuses. Everyone agrees the situation was not handled as well as it should have been.

Slapper - Read my comment at the top of my first post. Pool play only counts to seed the bracket. It does not count to figure the final order of finish on an incomplete or complete tournament. I'll be checking the teams in. I will gladly talk with your daughter. Believe me, I understand about the effort. I played this game from age 5 through my career at Purdue. As to where Cindy will be, she will be at Bloomington at some point this weekend. We have tournaments all across the state, not just the 16U division in Bloomington.

As to all of your comments and suggestions, we do have meetings each December to discuss the JO program and have sessions set up to gather input from our JO coaches. I have previously advertised these meetings on this very forum. Rarely do we have more than 1 or 2 coaches show up. If you really feel strongly about things, come to our meetings and discuss them then instead of complaining about things on this board or with each other. Better yet, volunteer with us and you'll get an understanding of how ASA works. We have room for good people in many areas of our organization. We really are here for you and believe it or not care about the girls and their softball careers.

Looking in, all anyone is asking is to play the games, which could have been played.

A few thoughts about this conversation. I'm not taking the time to name who these comments might be directed too. You know who you are. You get on this forum and hide behide your "screen names". To Crystal. I commend you. You too could have simply posted replies to these comments and never let anyone know who you are.
#1. Effort. I guess umpires, TD, locals and all the people who stayed until 3AM on SUNDAY MORNING to try and get the tournament back on time from earlier delays does not qualify under your definition of EFFORT ? Oh and lets not forget that many of those SAME individuals hit a bed about 4AM and were BACK at the diamonds by 7AM. EFFORT ? PLEASE !
#2. Please understand ASA sometimes does not always have the final say on when teams and games can be played on diamonds. The diamonds you played on this week-end are community owed and managed diamonds. Call the town. Sometimes decisions are based on the future and the well being of the complex AND players over-all. It's not just all about the immediate or you. I'm going to bet if one of your players, heaven forbid your daughter, were to get hurt on the diamond that had been gotten ready and possible playable in the broadest of terms you would probally be the first to be at the TD table to complain about that too.
#3. My daughter plays. I know about EFFORT, I know about the $$$ and time invested on both the players and parents part to be able to play this great game. Don't throw the players under the bus because your upset with how things happened. Like Crystal stated. Show up at the winter meetings. Volunteer, not only when a field is wet and you want to play but when conditions are perfect. Trust me, or feel free to ask around, while the players are taking all of those $$$ lessons for hitting, pitching, cardio, ect. during the winter. Tournament directors, umpires, community leaders, park managers, ect are not sitting at home all winter eating popcorn.

Opps. forgot to ask.

My daughter played in another sanctioning bodies tournament this past weekend. Her last inning of her game Saturday morning was played in a MONSOON. She lost. 5-3. Left runners on third and second. Actually had the runners there with only 1 out. About that time the strike zone became about as big as a 55 gallon drum. Umpires were doing what they needed to do to get the game in. The MONSOON probally cost us a chance for a tie at the very least. And an chance to stay in the winners bracket. And then they had the gull to cancel the rest of the tournament on Sunday morning BEFORE noon.

Where do I complain ?

PS. for some you that worry about others being sloooooow. Let me explain something. That was sarcasm.

crystalblu31 just a couple of things about the weekend in bloomington I thought you did everything you could to get the games in but

1 the TD shows up Saturday 45 min before the games posted and then wanted teams to do check in cutting in to the short warm up because no one could get ready when you dont know when you play.

2 the TD didn't know the way to seed teams and was putting people in the brackets according to offensive runs then switching it to defensive

3 the bracket punished the first round winning teams by having to play back to back in the late games and sending the teams they beat home to rest for the next day

I do appreciate the hard work that goes into preparing the fields and you guys getting everything ready for us to play this is just some one on the out side looking in .

Thanks

Some just don't get it. (please refer to "that was sarcasm" comment) I have no complaints. Tim Foster and the crew (which by the way was from Columbus Parks and Rec and not USFA) busted their butts. Mother Nature just seems to always have all 4 Aces.
