I think I can handle it. I've read enough on here to realize this is more about ridiculing the 10u coaches and parents than it is about the actual game itself. Xtreme 00 gets brought up so often that I can't help but to comment when it's about our team.

And the name was given to my daughter by someone on this thread, so I thought why not use it? If I had another email address I'd change my screen name to "Lady".

Oh my, lady, you need a new screen name. Any 10u pitcher's parent that goes by a name like that will get eaten alive by the sharks on this board

Since you just joined today, you get one free pass
One

Please use this wisely and take some time to change the screen name.
You can find directions on how to do this by looking up "definetely" in the dictionary - they are on the same page.

Best wishes and welcome aboard.
Hello, 911? It's Quagmire. Yeah, it's caught in the window this time.

The kinder gentler captn! This thread will be 100 pages before nationals, I was only hoping for sometime around the second week of tryouts.

At the end of the current season, does the Ex-Xtream team have to return their uniforms to the Xtream organization? Barrowed time, barrowed uniforms?

Slapper, I am the coach of the 10U Xtreme. My name is Bill Herron. The name of that "borrowed pitcher" is Shelby Herron, and she is my daughter. The girls on my team love her and look up to her, and all thought it was "cool" to get to play along side her. For goodness sake, is it not about the girls??? Not that it is any of your, or anyone else on here's business, we did not go to Hope to play "up" with any illusions of winning a championship. It was supposed to be, and it WAS, just a fun weekend at the diamond for our families over the holiday weekend... We simply knew the 12U girls played more small ball, atleast usually, and would put more balls in play, and expose things we needed to work on as a team. After working on these things, we went to the Capital City Showdown in Columbus Ohio this past weekend, and went 6-0, giving up only 6 runs all weekend, including games against two of the top 10U teams in Ohio. We still have MUCH to improve upon, as you would expect from any 10U team, but isn't the goal to teach the girls the game and continue to improve???

I would like to note how proud I am of the 12U "98" team as well. They went 8-0 and gave up only 2 runs all weekend...

As far as the pitching distance goes, most pitching instructors have the girls work out with 12" balls from time to time, and play some long toss, so it wasn't a real concern to me, especially knowing we had the following week off to "re-adjust" to the 10U ball and distance. One of my pitchers pitches for a 12U rec team on a weakly basis anyway, and has not been affected by it...

I am not sure Slapper, why YOU are so focused on our team. I don't think you really know anyone currently on my team too personally. You did buy a headband for your daughter in Hope from one of my parents, and we spoke briefly by my van at Ceraland between games the following weekend. The fact is, we have 10 little girls who love each other, and their coaches, and are having a great time. They have an outdoor record of 30-5 right now, and regardless of what you or anyone else on the outside says or thinks, I am Xtremely proud of my girls and my families right now.

I will add that atleast one piece of why the Xtreme let us go came from a quote from a coach who no longer has a team. If you want the truth as I believe it, Backstop13 has my number...

I for one, have much more important things to worry about than to try to sit by a computer and figure out what is wrong with your, or anybody else's youth softball team... Everyone should keep in mind that while we may seem nameless and faceless on these chat boards, we are all just folks trying to get by in this world, most of us trying to do what is right.

I just want to say coming from one of the girls parents that was let go by the Xtreme and educated in Ft Wayne. Everyone needs to just put this Xtreme thing to rest. While I may not agree with how the coaches handled things, it happened and it's over. My daughter along with 12 other girls have been turned in every direction from being kicked off to loosing the organization backing. Everything happens for a reason and while yes we were let go , we found a great team where my daughter gets a ton of pitching time. Let the Xtreme girls play and hopefully go down and WIN a championship in panama. Good luck to all the teams going to nationals!!

Fair enough catfan.

This latest installment was started with "should 10U teams play up", I offered my opinion and pointed out that Xtreme 00 used a 12U pitcher, since someone said they played up at Hope. There's nothing to be read into that. I did not intend to infer anything. In my opinion if you're going to play up in 12's, that would seem logical to me. I don't know that I would want my 10U pitcher throwing a big ball from 40' in the middle of the season. That's my OPINION, that's what the OP asked for, nothing more nothing less. As I also stated, I'm all for playing up if you can compete and it helps your team get better, knock yourself out, we did it all season last year.

As far as the rest, I'm not focused on your team. But for whatever reason it keeps coming up. From an outsider looking in, I think you had a great thing going, I'm just sad that it ends up like it has. I'm not privy to the inner workings of the organization, I have no idea about the goings on, other that what I read on here and heard thru the grapevine. That being said I've been around long enough to know how things get blown out of proportion and distorted. But the reality is if this stuff is circulating, something's going on. Since my kid wears an Xtreme jersey, I take issue with that. I have no interest in being involved with an organization that allows poor conduct and unsportsmanlike behavior from coaches or players. That's where my issue lies. I think too much has been read into my comments in this latest installment. I will agree there's a lot to read between the lines in many of my posts, there's not in the "playing up" section of this thread.

Lastly, I would argue your point about this being nameless and faceless. Everyone knows who most of the regular posters on here are. My identity is certainly no secret. I'll take a pass on the phone call I'm not a big "phone guy", next time you see me, come up and introduce yourself.
