12U Spring/Summer Ranking

seems strange only one of the two top teams can make it to the gold bracket but teams that arn't even ranked can make it to the gold by coming in 2nd seat.

Anyone else noticing the 12u Lincoln Memorial Day Monday brackets seem a little off? Seems there are some 2 seeds that will make it into the gold bracket while there are other 2 seeds that will not make it.

Examples:

The most glaring example is Pool 10 which contains the Breeze 98 and TC Smash yet only the #1 seed gets to go to the Gold bracket.(Not being able to have 2 of the top 5 Norcal teams play in the same Monday Gold bracket is kind of silly. I would imagine either one would easily walk away with the Silver bracket.)

Pool 2 has the EC Hotshots and Valley Stompers but only 1 gets to go to the Gold bracket

Meanwhile Pools 1, 3, 5 and 7 all get #1 and #2 seeds in the gold bracket where the likely #2 seed will probably have an early exit(no disrespect to those teams).

The system does seem to work for Pool 6 which has the Red Grapes(shot out to Tenshun...haha) and Hype 98. Both those teams should be worthy enough to make it into to the Gold bracket.

Not saying whoever made the brackets didn't put in alot of work and maybe there are some teams that are flying under the radar that are ready to step up but a better bracket/pool system seems to be needed. Maybe something like all the #1 and #2 seeds go into the Gold or just all #1's go into Gold and all 2's and 3's go into the Silver and the rest go into Bronze or Red.

Gametime23 as of 5/24.....This weekend should answer a few questions.

1). Smash-Loaded with stud players and #1 coaching staff. They will only beat themselves in 12's.

2).Sorcerer98-Continue to play 14's and WIN. Would like to see them beat top 98's, but just isn't going to happen this year. Just added another 99 pitcher from grapes.

3).D Doggs-I love these guys. they fear no one and should just move to So cal as much as they play down south. Big weekend for these guys to move up in rankings.

4)Grapes RV- getting better every game. Big weekend for these guys to play top 12s teams and move up in ranking. Also playing great in Reno 14's.

5) Breeze98-Lost stud player and worried about gold bracket? Great coaching and talented players. They always show up. Sat vs smash is big game for them, but still top #5 .

6).Hotshots-Seem to be getting better but need to beat top 12's to move up or down.

7). RR Gold99- Beating everyone they play now days. as of today this is where they sit, but shoud move down after this weekend?

8). Foothill Gold- Up and down at times and peaked to early in my eyes. Will need to beat top teams to move up.

9).Storm-havent seen lately but they always come to play. Few bangers and great small ball for 12's.

10)AASA-Team plays down to 99's, but continue to play good vs top teams-HShots, Grapes 14's & stars 14's. They could move up or down after this weekend.

11.)Breeze99-great young team and beating a lot of 98's. Big weekend for them to move up.

I have a different view , but most of your rankings fall within the 2 ranking spot margin of error. Won't wrangle with you on comparing rankings cuz I'll be changing mine soon anyway.

Plus, I think most of your comments are well thought out.

A lot of teams will be tested this weekend and I'm looking forward to seeing who steps up.

The weekend tourney has ended.. There was a lot of great games I was able to witness. Looks like the Smash will hold onto their #1 spot but the next few spots are open to some movement. Smash played Smash type ball, smart and capital lize on others mistakes. Sorcerer did'nt play here in 12s not sure where they ended up. The Gold bracket Sunday was a great day of some good games. I watched Grapettes #1 saw off and no hit the Dirt Dogs 7-0, watched the Breeze seem to struggle a bit in most of their games, not sure whats going on there. Hot Shots played well in the lower half gold bracket and eventually make it to championship game to lose to Smash. I have got to tell you the game of the day was Smash and Grapes Vasquez AGAIN. You talk about Clash of the Titans.... What a great game 1-1 through a better part of it with both pitchers bringin it. Hard to see a loser out of this one but Smash prevailed 2-1. Great job Gary nice tourney just not the weather.... Look forward to Tenshun and Gametime's thoughts.......
