I just picked up this thread on a tip from a friend and have to agree this is entertaining. I will say though if I had a daughter playing for a coach that flipped the bird at a parent then kicked dirt on a umpire at a game. That would be the last game I would play for that coach or the organization. Im still confused how a organization kicks a team out but they are still wearing the uniforms. How does that work? You would think if they were bad enough to get kicked out then they wouldn't want them using there name. I guess they don't care about what dirt this coach drags them through. Let's get back to playing ball and teaching these girls not only softball but life lessons. Isn't that what sports is about?

The ONLY reason they were allowed to keep the jerseys and wear the name was because of the kids. While a few did have to pay a price, we didn't want ALL of them to have to go through that. We were just trying to do the best by the girls in a not so pleasant situation. We do care...not real pleased with his actions and might be second guessing that decision to allow them to conintue wearing the jerseys...but still...trying to do best for the kids.

So by your logic, does that mean that if you had a girl on one of the Xtreme 12U teams, after this incident you would be pulling her from her team??

Scouting? Nooooo...Just looking for the good competition...Wondering if we should continue to play USFA or lean towards NSA or AFA? Also, I am just a parent wanting to see the girls grow...so the offensive/defensive comment was purely from curiosity....I guess my wording came across wrong. Was just going to look for "better" teams in tourney"s.....We are new to this and not quite sure what the whole diff is between USFA?AFA?NSA......My apologies if last post was "wordy"...just curious!!!

When my daughter and I decided to take on a 10u team we thought it would be a little laid back and fun, a good way for us to get started, MAN WAS I WRONG!!!! We were told by many people that we should start with a 16u or 18u team, we chose to go with 10u, I must say after just one tournament that this age group is as cut throat as any!!!! Already I have seen and heard opposing parents making fun of, and calling these 10 year old girls names from the stands, two coaches lose it, a coach that argued EVERY call the umpire made including balls and strikes, and parents almost go at it in the stands!!! Do you think these 10 year olds don't hear and see these types of actions?? Most of this is uncalled for!! I must agree with slapperdad........

Hey I am all about building fundamentally sound, solid, tough softball players, but I thought at 10u parents and coaches would be a little more compassionate,... again, MAN WAS I WRONG!!!

I can say that no I would not pull my daughter from the 12 U team, but I can say for certain. She would be gone from that organization the following year. Just like in business, the face of your business is whoever is wearing that uniform out in public. I don't care if you say they aren't associated with you or not. The 500 fans at each tournament see what the Xtreme coached do and they don't see anything but Xtreme on his hat. If you are With the Xtreme organization then yes it was great for you not punish the girls for an idiot coach, but it should be zero tolerance after the first incident. The coach is the one hurting the girls not the organization. The girls are better off with a good role model and after what I read a few posts ago I can't see how this coach is teaching the girls any good values with his outbursts.

I was told to join heybucket and read this thread. I really like how people write it is about the kids, but what it appears to be is alot of trash talking and judgemental people. When reading the WHOLE thread I have to wonder why the "2best girls" on this team were removed. If they were removed there must have been a reason...Noone seems to care about that they just want to bash their coach. Makes me think some of you are holding a grudge and using this forum to bash him. If he did do the finger flip you need to grow up...I am sure each person on here has done something like that in the heat of the moment. I can't believe that not one of you has raised your voice or yelled things at people/umpires at these tournaments. My Dad coached my sisters, I have cousins who play and now my 2 daughters. I am not scarred by it but you guys act like you are all perfect. The umpire thing might have been excessive but I wasn't there I don't know so I am not gonna jump on the bandwagon and condemn this guy or the team. From being around the game I know this is a good organization and used to under a different name I believe. I have made some calls since getting on this thread and having a good laugh with some buddies. From what I have heard this team is a pretty good. So let the girls continue to play and develop which seems to be what this team is doing. You guys are acting like children by name calling and also calling the parents names. That is what is inappropriate. Why don't you grow up and have a fun season of softball instead of having to get on heybucket and talk trash.

Wow! I was also told to join this thread. The actions of the Xtreme coach are completely unacceptable and the parents of the girls on the Xtreme should examine a way to have him removed. I don't care how much your emotions can take over in the heat of the moment; his actions are definitely inexcusable in front of 9-10 yr. old girls. My daughter plays for one of the teams mentioned frequently on this thread and I'll swear that she would no longer be on a team that has a jackass coach like that! One blow-up is somewhat understandable and possible excusable, but this appears to be an ongoing issue with this guy. Like some of the other members have stated, softball is about the girls, not the coach or parents.

Those who live in glass houses. Softball freak I am glad your child plays for a coach who never questions a call and smiles all the time. Sounds like a rosey place to be. I for one wouldn't want my kid to play on a team where the coach didn't care enough about my kid to fight for her. I am not saying kick dirt but at least have a little bit of fight in ya to show you believe in the girls. Baseball does the same things so this is really funny because I guess since they are girls we should all keep our mouths closed. These girls know more than you think they do. I also guess I didn't see that this had occurred every weekend. I will go back and re read.
