NSA rule questions

At a state tournament this weekend, several questions came up. The team we played against had two girls with the same number...one shirt had the girls last name, the other just had the number with no last name. Umpire allowed this. Later, our pitcher was ejected from the game because her shirt became untucked while pitching. He claims he warned everyone before the game they would be tossed if their shirt was untucked.

Is there any such rule? and should there be two players wearing the same number?

I don't have the 2008 NSA Rules book in front of me but there is nothing in the NSA 2007 Rules book that covers any penalty for an untucked shirt.

NSA rules do cover players wearing the same number. Rules reads: Numbers must be worn on all uniforms. No players on the same team may wear identical numbers.

Where do guys like that come from? An ejection for an untucked shirt. There are hundreds of games each season where the pitcher is told to tuck in her shirt, which takes a couple of seconds. And then it's play on. But an ejection???!!! You're kidding me!

There are no such shirts in Georgia High School anymore! The verdict has come down from on high that ALL shirtails are to be tucked into the pants. Also there will be NO hair bows or ribbons allowed at all. I think we get to eject the coach though!

Retirement looks like a viable option.

Absolutely amazing!

No one had masking tape to add a "1" to the back of one of the jerseys (slow pitch standard).

And ejection for tucking in the shirt!?!?! (How did the appeal turn out?)

No appeal on the umpire's decision, as the manager was also tossed. In another interesting side note, the top of the first inning was replayed. The pitching plate was too close to home...the 10U's played previously. Our team was home, struck out the side. Their pitcher came in to start the bottom of the first, and complained that she was too close. Geniouses measured the distance,and after some discussion, the away team was allowed to bat over. Is there a rule that covers this? (NSA). Someone other that the girls are dropping the ball here!

There is a rule in ASA.. and it isnt a do over.

This tourney was very messed up. The NSA folks in your area really need to pull their heads out.

I think it's under NSA Rule 2 and reads something like this:

If during the course of any game, the base distance or pitching distance ia found to be in error, the error should be corrected immediately, and the game should continue. This is not a point to be protested.
