Who’s liable if a young kid plays up and something tragic happens to that kid? Would it be the parents, coach or organization?
I don't get it that a young kid say 13, pitches on an 18U team against WOMEN.
Who in there right mind would want there 13 year old child hanging with 18 year old women?

That's the intent, but a jury could determine that the organization was negligent in allowing a potentially more-dangerous-than-necessary situation to exist on their watch.

In California, no one is responsible for their own stupid actions.

I question the maturity level of a young girl surrounded by older girls.
Skill level should not be the deciding factor of which age group you play in.
The levels of play are based on age with A, B, & C being skill levels.

What is the typical conversation topics of 18 year old compared to 13 year olds.

With that being said. If the ASA allows players to move up age groups but, not down.
ASA is taking on the liability.

The Parents are. Our DD was 13 playing on an 18 Gold Team as a 3rd Baseman she held her own just fine. If I didnt think she could do it Ishe wouldnt be on the team. She started out as a Catcher. 7 years old on a 10U and was throwing girls out. She made the Transition to 3rd base didnt bother me a bit. Now she is a SS. If they dont belong they dont belong and if she has a good coach that knows what they are doing they wouldnt put her in harms way.

Its a good question lv2! When I was a kid I had an older brother, 6 years older than I. I followed him around all the time. I mean all the time .....because I had to. After a couple of years I picked up many characteristics, personality traits and what not from all those tough guys I had as mentors. For me it was not good. However, The question at hand is a straight up question about family morals. Do I want to allow my child to be influenced by in some cases, grown women? For me and mine no. I myself asked why would anyone be okay with such a decision. Unfortunately though, its really up to the parents with what values they believe is acceptable for their child. For me its not a wise choice but for someone else maybe its a chance of a lifetime. Great question though!
